200 grams of Stylecraft Special Aran yarn in each of colours 1, 2 & 3
6.00mm hook for main part of blanket & 5.00mm hook for border

Made in multiples of 4 + 2.
With 6.00mm hook make 98ch, (RS) work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (97dc)
2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * miss 1dc, work shell (see abbrev) into next dc, miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (24 shell groups)
3rd Row – 3ch, * miss 2tr, work vst (see abbrev) into 1ch space, miss 2tr, 1tr into dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (24vst)
4th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1tr, work shell into vst, miss 1tr, 1dc into tr, * rpt from * to * to last vst and 3tch, miss 1tr, work shell into vst, miss 1tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn. Fasten off.
Repeat 3rd & 4th Rows in colour sequence as follows:

Rpt # # to # # eight more times or until work measures approx 30 inches from beginning. Turn.

Second Row – Working 3dc into corners work 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc around all four sides of blanket, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Third Row – 3ch, 3tr into the stitch at the base of the 3ch, * miss 2dc, (ss, 3ch, 3tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * all around blanket to end, ss to the stitch at the base of the 3tch on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends.
