For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

150 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in colour 1
350 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in colour 2

6.50mm & 5.50mm crochet hooks

TENSION – 2, tr3tog & 3 rows of pattern measures approx 1 inch

Made in multiples of 2.

With 6.50mm hook and colour 1 make 110ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into next ch, * make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 3ch, make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into each of last 2ch. Turn. (53, 2ch spaces)

Fasten off. Join in colour 2.

2nd Row – (RS) 3ch, * miss next dc, tr3tog (see abbrev) into next 1ch space, make 1ch, * rpt from * to * to last 1ch space and 2dc, work tr3tog into 1ch space, miss 1dc, 1tr into last dc. Turn. (53, tr3tog)

Fasten off. Join in colour 1.

3rd Row – 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, make 1ch, * miss next tr3tog, 1dc into next 1ch space, * rpt from * to * to 3tch, work 2dc into top of 3ch. Turn.

Fasten off. Join in colour 2.

4th Row – 3ch, * miss next dc, tr3tog into next 1ch space, make 1ch, * rpt from * to * to last 1ch space and 2dc, work tr3tog into 1ch space, miss 1dc, 1tr into last dc. Turn.

Rpt 3rd & 4th Rows until 36, tr3tog rows have been worked in all.

Rpt 3rd Row once, do not turn at the end of the row.

Change to 5.50mm hook. Continue in colour 1.

Border – Work 1dc into top of 3ch, working into row ends down first side of blanket, work 1dc into each of next 2 row ends, * 2dc into next row end, 1dc into next row end, * rpt from * to * along the side, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into next row end, rpt from * to * up second side of blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc and 1ch space across top of blanket, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Second Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc across top of blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc down first side of blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc along bottom of blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc up second side of blanket, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Third Row – Work one more row of 1dc into each dc around blanket, working 3dc into the 3 corners and 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Fasten off. Join in colour 2.

Fourth Row – 1ch, (1dc, 3ch, 1dc) into base of 1ch, * make 3ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * around blanket to end, working (1dc, 3ch, 1dc) into each corner. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn.
