Free crochet baby cozy booties pattern, a favourite at any baby shower these cute and comfy little boots will delight any new Mom to be, I have added a small bow, but you can use your own applique or animal button if you want.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

Dec.  Decrease
Insert loop into next dc, pull up loop, (twice) yrh pull through all loops.

Approx size to fit:  3-6 month baby  (to change size use smaller or bigger hooks)

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

Small Amount of King Cole Comfort DK Yarn in colour 1
30 grams of King Cole Comfort DK Yarn in colour 2

4.50mm crochet hook

TENSION – 5dc and 5 rows measures approx 1 Inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Using colour 1 make 24ch loosely, ss to first ch to make a ring (WS) work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ch to end, ss to first dc on beginning row. Turn. (24dc)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt 2nd Row five more times, making 7 rows in all. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 2

8th Row – Working into BLO make 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Working through both loops from now on rpt 8th Row 6 more times. Fasten off. Turn.

Instep
Miss 8dc rejoin yarn to 9th dc with a ss, 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of ch, 1dc into each of next 7dc. Turn. (8dc)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 7dc. Turn. Rpt last row 6 more times until 8 rows in all have been worked. Fasten off.

Shape Sole
With WS facing return to back seam where you casted off at ankle, work 1dc into each of next 8dc along ankle, 1dc into each of the 8 row ends up first side of instep, 1dc into each of next 8dc along the toe, 1dc into each of the 8 row ends down second side of instep, 1dc into each of next 8dc along ankle, ss to the first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (40dc) (see picture below)

Second Row – Make 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc.

Third Row (Dec Row) – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (see abbrev) 1dc into each of the next 15dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (twice), 1dc into next 15dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (36dc)

Fourth Row – Rpt Second Row.

Fifth Row (Dec Row) – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into each of the next 13dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (twice), 1dc into next 13dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (32dc)

Sixth Row – Rpt Second Row.

Seventh Row (Dec Row) – Make 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into each of the next 11dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (twice), 1dc into next 11dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (28dc)

Eighth Row – Rpt Second Row. DNT.

Make 1ch, with WS of bootie facing, ss through centre loops on both sides of dc to close gap on sole of bootie.

Bow – With colour 2 make 8ch loosely, work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each of next 2ch, ss into next ch, 1dc into each of remaining 3ch. Turn. (6dc + 1ss)

Rows 2 & 3 – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, work 1dc into each of next 2dc, ss into next ss, 1dc into each of remaining 3dc. Turn.

Fasten off at the end of Row 3.

Wrap yarn around centre of bow over the ss several times to make the bow.

Finishing – Weave in all ends. Turn through to RS, turn down cuff, attach small bow to front of each bootie.
