Crochet blanket square motif, great one to use up your scrap yarn, with easy flat slip stitch joining, they don’t have to be used just for blankets, you can make them for bags, cushion covers, table mats, coasters etc.
Crochet using the simple double crochet stitch (treble crochet for UK crocheters) I have written the pattern for a worsted weight #4 yarn (Aran for UK) with a 5.00mm crochet hook size.

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Made in rounds with turning throughout.
With colour 1 make a magic circle, work 3ch, 15tr into circle, pull loose thread to close, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off.
2nd Round – Join colour 2 with a ss to top of 3ch on previous row, make 3ch, work 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 3ch, * make 2ch, miss 1tr, 2tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, make 2ch, miss 1tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off.
3rd Round – Join colour 3 to any 2ch space with a ss, make 3ch, work (2tr, 1ch, 3tr) into same space, * miss 2tr, work 3tr into next 2ch space, miss 2tr, work (3tr, 1ch, 3tr) into next 2ch space, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch space, miss 2tr, work 3tr into 2ch space, miss 2tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Fasten off.
4th Round – Join in colour 4 to top of 3ch on previous row, make 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to 1ch space, 5tr into 1ch space, * rpt from * to * last 6tr, 1tr into each tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave and trim off all loose ends of yarn.
