Free Crochet Pattern Afghan Hexagon – Everyone loves crochet hexagons, sewn together for blankets, throws or afghans I think they look more beautiful than squares.

This is a very simple design that crochets up really quickly. Hope you enjoy!

Free Crochet Pattern Afghan Hexagon

Pattern Number CNC146

Abbreviations
RS.      Right Side

ch.      Chain
sc.       Single Crochet
dc.      Double Crochet
rpt.     Repeat
sl st.   Slip Stitch
yo.      Yarn Over

dc2tog. Leaving last loop of each dc on hook work 2dc in next stitch, yo and pull through all loops.

ch3 counts as first dc

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

Approx Finished Size:     6 x 6 inches (point to point)

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn
I have used:-
Small amounts of Stylecraft Special DK in colors 1 & 2

4.00mm Clover Crochet Hook

GAUGE – 5dc and 2 rows measures approx 1 inch square

Made in rounds without turning until 6th Round.

Using color 1 make magic circle, ch3, (RS) work 11dc in circle, pull loose thread to close, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round. (11dc + ch3)

2nd Round – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * ch2, dc2tog (see abbrev) in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ch2, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round.

Fasten off. Join in color 2 to any ch2 space.

3rd Round – ch3, 2dc in same space, * ch1, skip next dc2tog, 3dc in next ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to end, ch1, skip dc2tog, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning or round.

4th Round – sl st to first ch1 space, ch3, work 2dc in same space, * skip 3dc, work (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next ch1 space, skip 3dc, work 3dc in next ch1 space, * rpt from * to * four more times, skip 3dc, work (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next ch1 space, skip 3dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round.

Fasten off. Join in color 1 to top of ch3.

5th Round – ch3, * 1dc in each dc to next ch2 space, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, work 1dc in each of the dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round. Turn.

Fasten off. Join in color 2 to top of ch3.

6th Round – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * 1sc in each dc to next ch2 space, (1sc, ch2, 1sc) in ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to last 7dc, work 1sc in each of the dc, sl st to first sc on beginning of round.

Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
