Crochet Granny Hexagon

My crochet granny hexagon is an addition to my granny stitch patterns.

Hexagons seem to be the in thing at the moment and are great for baby shawls, adult shawls, blankets, kitchen items etc.

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

ch3 counts as first dc

Approx finished size: 4 Inch Diameter

For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used:-

Small amounts of Paintbox Simply DK in the colors 1 & 2

OR an equivalent yarn would be:-
Small amounts of Worsted Weight #3 in the colors 1 & 2

4.00mm Clover Crochet Hook


Made in rounds without turning throughout until the end.

Using color 1 make a magic circle (see abbrev/pictorial) ch3, (RS) 2dc in circle, ch3, work (3dc, ch3) five times in circle, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off. (6, 3dc groups)

Row Two – Join color 2 to any ch3 space, ch3, (1dc, ch2, 2dc) in same space, ch1, * skip 3dc, work (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in next ch1 space, ch1 * rpt from * to * to end, skip 3dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Row Three – Join in color 2 to any ch2 space, (ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc) in same ch2 space, * ch1, skip 2dc, work (3dc, ch1) in next ch1 space, skip 2dc, work (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in next ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to last ch1 space, ch1, skip 2dc, work (3dc, ch1) in ch space, skip 2dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim off.
