The beautiful raised textured group stitch I have used for this free baby blanket pattern has made it into a thick and snuggly design to keep baby warm.

Crocheted in a white light worsted yarn (double knitting for the UK) and trimmed with navy, just add a ribbon bow to make it pop.

Abbreviations UK
ch.       Chain
dc.       Double Crochet
tr.        Treble Crochet
rpt.      Repeat

ss.        Slip Stitch

Group. (1dc, 3ch, 3tr) into same space or stitch.

fpdc. Work a double crochet around the front of the post
of the treble crochet on the row below.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch.

Approx Finished Size:   24 x 25.5 Inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

270 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 1
30 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 2

4.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hooks, small amount of 6mm ribbon

TENSION – 1.5 pattern rpt & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in multiples of 4.

With colour 1 and 4.50mm hook make 106ch loosely, working into back bump of ch (see pic) work (1dc, 3ch, 3tr) into 2nd ch from hook, * miss 3ch, work (1dc, 3ch, 3tr) into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 4ch, miss next 3ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn. (26 groups)

2nd Row – 1ch, (1dc, 3ch, 3tr) into stitch at base of 1ch, miss next 2tr, * fpdc (see abbrev) around next tr, make 3ch, work 3tr into next 3ch space, miss next dc and 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 3tr and 3ch, miss dc and 3tr, work 1dc  into top of 3ch. Turn.

Repeat 2nd Row until 65 rows have been worked in all from beginning. Turn.

Border – With 4.00mm hook make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work * 3dc into 3ch space, 1dc into dc, * rpt from * to * to end, work 3dc into last dc, work alternately 2dc into next row end and 1dc into next row end down first side of blanket, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into each ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, work alternately 2dc into next row end and 1dc into next row end up second side of blanket, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work one more row of 1dc into each dc around all four sides of blanket working 3dc into the corners, work 1dc into base of 1ch on last corner, ss to first dc on the beginning of the row. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 2 and rpt last row once. Turn.

Pretty Edge – 1ch, (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) into stitch at base of 1ch, * miss 2dc, (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) into next dc, * rpt from * to * around cover to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn, using a small amount of 6mm wide ribbon make a bow in one of the corners.
