ch.
     Chain

dc.      Double Crochet
rpt.     Repeat
ss.      Slip Stitch
yrh.    Yarn Round Hook
BLO.   Back Loop Only
DNT.   Do Not Turn

ps.      Puff Stitch
* yrh insert into stitch and pull up loop, *  rpt from * to * twice more, yrh pull through 7 loops.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch.

Finished size approx:   6.5 wide x 41 Inch circumference

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

70 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in colour 1
85 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in colour 2

6.00mm Clover Crochet Hook

TENSION – 4dc & 4 rows measures approx 1 inch

Ribbing# With colour 1 make 7ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (6dc)

2nd Row – Working into BLO (see abbrev) of stitch make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt 2nd Row until you have 146 rows worked in all.

Fold work in half and ss last row worked and starting chain edge together to make a round.

Turn work so you are working in row ends, (ss seam facing) 1ch, work 1dc in each row end to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn. (146dc) #

Leave first piece to one side until the end.

The cowl is worked in rounds from now on.

Rpt from # to #, join in colour 2 to first dc.

First Row – (RS) 1ch, ps (see abbrev) into base of 1ch, * make 1ch, miss 1dc, ps into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, make 1ch, miss dc, ss to 1st ps on beginning of round. DNT. (73ps)

Pattern Row – 1ch, ps into first 1ch space, * make 1ch, miss next ps, work ps into next 1ch space, * rpt from * to * to end, make 1ch, ss to first ps on beginning of round. DNT.

Rpt Pattern Row until you have 8ps rows worked in all.

Fasten off.

Finishing – Using colour 1 join first Ribbing to last row of scarf either by ss or whip stitching with a needle and yarn. Weave in and trim of all loose ends of yarn.
