Cross Cluster Beanie Hat – I have posted my latest free crochet beanie hat pattern below, the size is to fit an adult, I have made it in an easy and quick cross cluster stitch.

The materials used for the sample were Lion Brand Baby Soft yarn in the color Pastel Blue using a 4.50mm Clover crochet hook

Leaving last loop of each tr on hook, work 2tr into next stitch, yrh and pull through 3 loops.

Crossed Cluster Group. (see tutorial)

fptr.    Front Post Treble Crochet (see tutorial)
Work tr around front post of the tr on row below.

bptr.   Back Post Treble Crochet (see tutorial)
Work tr around back post of the tr on row below.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

3ch counts as first tr

To Fit:  Adult approx 20 – 22 Inch Head

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn

I have used approximately:-
75 grams of Paintbox Simple DK yarn

4.50mm Clover Crochet Hook

TENSION – 5tr & 2.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Made in continuous rounds without turning to end of the 5th Row

Make magic circle, (RS) work 3ch, 15tr into circle, pull loose yarn to close, join with ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. (15tr + 3ch)

2nd Row – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (31tr + 3ch)

3rd Row – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on the beginning of row. (47tr + 3ch)

4th Row – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (63tr + 3ch)

5th Row – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (79tr + 3ch)

6th Row – 1ch, 1dc into each tr to last tr, miss tr, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (78dc)

7th Row – 3ch, * miss next dc, work 1cl (see abbrev) into next dc, working into front of the cl you just made, work a cl into the dc you missed, 1tr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, work crossed cluster group over 2dc, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (26, crossed cluster groups)

8th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each stitch to end, ss to first dc on beginning row. Turn.

Rpt 7th & 8th Rows six more times or until 20 rows have been worked in all from the crown. Turn.

21st Row – 1ch, 1htr into base of 1ch, 1htr into each dc to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row. DNT.

Rib Row – 2ch, fptr around htr on base of 2ch, bptr around next htr, * fptr around next htr, bptr around next htr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row.

Fasten off.

Make a large pom-pom, I used Clover pom-pom maker Number 65

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, attach the pom-pom securely to crown.
