tr2tog.  Leaving last loop of each tr on hook, work 2tr into next stitch, yrh draw through all 3 loops.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

Finished size approx:  6 Inches wide x 4.5 Inches high

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used approximately:-

25 grams of Paintbox Simply DK in Colour 1
15 grams of Paintbox Simply DK in Colour 2

4.00mm crochet hook, 1 medium button

TENSION – 5htr and 4 rows measures approx 1 Inch

UK PURSE INSTRUCTIONS:

Base – With colour 1 make 24ch loosely, work 1htr into 3rd ch from hook, 1htr into each ch to end. Turn. (22htr)

Next Row – 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 1htr into each htr to end. Turn.

Rpt last row once. Turn.

Top – Make 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 1htr into each htr to end, DNT, work 4htr into the row ends down the side of the purse base, working along starting chain edge work 1htr into each of the next 22ch, 4htr into row ends up second side of purse, ss to top of first htr on beginning of row. Turn. (52htr)

Pattern Row – 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 1htr into each htr to end, ss to top of first htr on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row until 14 rows have been worked from base or work measures approx 4.5 inches from beginning.

Fasten off.

Strap – Using colour 1 double thickness make 100ch loosely.

Fasten off.

Flap – Using colour 2 make magic circle, work 3ch, 6tr into circle, pull loose thread to close. Turn.

2nd Row – make 4ch, (counts as 1tr and 1ch) * 1tr into next tr, 1ch, * rpt from * to * to end, work 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (6tr, 6, 1ch spaces + 3ch)

3rd Row – 3ch, * 3tr into next 1ch space, miss 1tr, * rpt from * to * to last 4ch, 3tr into the space, 1tr into 3rd of 4ch. Turn. (19tr + 3ch)

4th Row – 2ch, 1tr into next tr, * 4ch, miss 1tr, tr2tog (see abbrev) into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr and 3ch, make 4ch, miss 1tr, tr2tog over next tr and top of 3ch. Turn.

5th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 5tr into 4ch space, 1dc into space between next two tr2tog, * rpt from * to * to last 4ch space, 5tr into 4ch space, 1dc into top of 2ch. DNT.

Working along straight side of flap into row ends and starting with 2ch, 1htr into the base of the 2ch and 16 more htr evenly along to end. Turn. (17htr)

Next Row – 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 1htr into each htr to end. Turn.

Rpt last row once, fasten off leaving long length of yarn.

Place the flap in the centre of the back on the purse with WS facing and using the length of yarn whip stitch or slip stitch flap evenly in position.

Finishing – Weave in any loose ends of yarn, sew each end of strap to sides of purse. Attach button to front of purse and fasten between the stitches on flap to close.

Rpt last row once. Turn.
