Soft Rose Baby Blanket

Soft rose baby blanket, sweet and cuddly blanket, made in an easy two row repeat design. I have used a pretty shell edge to finish off the blanket.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

Size to fit approx:    32 inches wide x 33 inches long

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

450 grams of Stylecraft Special Aran yarn

6.50mm crochet hook for main part & 5.50mm crochet hook for the border

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in multiples of 2.

With 6.50mm hook make 94ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (93dc)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of 1ch, * 1tr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (46tr and 47dc)

3rd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each tr and dc to end. Turn.

Rpt 2nd and 3rd Rows until work measures approx 29.5 inches from beginning. Turn.

Change to 5.50 crochet hook.

Border – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc across, DNT, work 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end down first side of blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end up second side of blanket, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Second Row – Working 3dc into each corner, make 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end, 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Third Row – 5ch, 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 5ch, * miss 2dc, (1tr, 2ch, 1tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to 3rd of 5ch on beginning of row. Turn. (you may on some corners have to miss more or less than 2dc)

Fourth Row – ss to first 2ch space, make 3ch, work 2tr into same space, work 1dc into space between next 2tr, * work (3tr into next 2ch space, 1dc  between next 2tr) across row to corner, work 6tr into corner 2ch space, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Weave in and trim off all ends of yarn.

Third Row – ch5, 1dc in the stitch at the base of the ch5, * skip 2sc, (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to 3rd of ch5 on beginning of row. Turn. (you may on some corners have to skip more or less than 2sc)

Fourth Row – sl st to first ch2 space, ch3, work 2dc in same space, work 1sc in space between next 2dc, * work (3dc in next ch2 space, 1sc  between next 2dc) across row to corner, work 6dc in corner ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Fasten off.
