Row 2 – 1ch, work 1htr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work 1htr into each htr to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt Row 2 in colour sequence as follows:-

Rpt Second & Third Rows from jacket rib along bottom of sleeve to end, working on WS ss last row and starting chain edge together on cuff to close. Fasten off.

Button Band – With RS facing join colour 1 to right hand side of front edge, make 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work 32 more dc evenly into row ends to neck edge, work (1dc, 1ch, 1dc) into corner, 1dc into each ch around neck, (1dc, 1ch, 1dc) into corner, work 33 more dc evenly into row ends down second front edge. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc along, 1dc into 1ch space on corner. Turn. (35dc)

Turning at the end of each row work 2 more rows of 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.

Buttonhole Band – Return to first front edge, starting from 1ch space on corner and working from neck downwards, with WS facing work 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn

Buttonholes Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each of next 3dc, make * 2ch, miss 2dc, 1dc into each of next 7dc, * rpt from * to * twice, make 2ch, miss 2dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into the base of the 1ch, work 1dc into each dc and 2dc into each 2ch space to end. Fasten off.

Pocket x 2 – With colour 2 make 9ch, 1dc into 2nd chain from hook 1dc into each ch to end. Turn.

Turning at the end of each row work 6 more rows of 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Edging & Rib – 1ch, 1dc into the base of the 1ch, work 1dc into each dc across, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end down first side of pocket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end up second side of pocket. DNT.

Rib – Make 3ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into next ch, ss into next 2dc on pocket. Turn. (2dc)

Work into BLO for the rib.

Next Row – 1ch, miss 2 ss, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss into each of next 2dc on pocket.

Rpt last two rows along pocket to end. Fasten off.

Close small gap under arms on jacket, weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim off, attach buttons to correspond with buttonholes and sew patch pocket to fronts of jacket, decorate with animal buttons.

Booties – Using colour 1 make 24ch loosely, ss to first ch to make a ring (WS) work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ch to end, ss to first dc on beginning row. Turn. (24dc)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt last row until eight rows have been worked. Turn.

Working into FLO make 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Working through both loops from now on, work 7 more rows in dc until 16 rows have been worked in all from beginning. Fasten off. Turn.

Instep

Miss 8dc, join colour 2 to the 9th dc with a ss, 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of ch, 1dc into each of next 7dc. Turn. (8dc)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 7dc. Turn.

Rpt last row in colour sequence as follows:-

Twice in colour 2, twice in colour 1 and twice in colour 3. Fasten off. (you should have 8 rows worked)

Shape Sole

With RS facing return to back seam where you casted off at ankle, with colour 1 work 1dc into each of next 8dc along ankle, 1dc into each of the 8 row ends up first side of instep, 1dc into each of next 8dc along the toe, 1dc into each of the 8 row ends down second side of instep, 1dc into each of next 8dc along ankle, ss to the first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (40dc)

Second Row – Make 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc.

Rpt Second Row once. Turn.

Third Row (Dec Row) – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (see abbrev) 1dc into each of the next 15dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (twice), 1dc into next 15dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into last dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (36dc)

Fifth Row (Dec Row) – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into each of the next 13dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (twice), 1dc into next 13dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into last dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (32dc)

Sixth Row – Rpt Second Row.

Seventh Row (Dec Row) – Make 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into each of the next 11dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (twice), 1dc into next 11dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into last dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (28dc)

Eighth Row – Rpt Second Row. Turn.

Make 1ch, with WS of bootie facing, ss through centre loops on both sides of dc to close gap on sole of bootie.

Weave in all ends, turn through to RS, turn down cuff from loose loops, attach small ribbon bow to front of each bootie.

Beanie Hat – Made in rounds without turning until the brim.

With colour 1 leaving a strand of yarn, make 30ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, make 1ch, (RS) 1htr into base of 1ch, 1htr into each ch to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row. Turn. (30htr)

Next Row – 1ch, 1htr into stitch at the base of the 1ch, work 2htr into each htr to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row. Turn. (60htr)

Starting with 1ch, 1htr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work 1htr into each htr to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row.

Rpt last row in colour sequence as follows:-

Three in colour 1, five in colour 2, five in colour 3, six in colour 1. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 2, work one row of dc. Turn.

Change to one size smaller hook.

Brim – Make 8ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each of next 5ch ss into each of next 2dc on hat. Turn. (7dc)

Work into BLO for the rib.

Next Row – 1ch, miss 2 ss, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss into each of next 2dc on hat. Turn.

Rpt last two rows along bottom of hat to end, ss last row and starting chain edge together on brim to close. Fasten off.

Pom-Pom – Using colour 2 make a pom-pom, I used clover pom-pom maker number 65.

Finishing – Thread loose length of yarn through starting chain edge on crown to gather the top together, weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, attach pom-pom to crown, fold brim onto the right side of the hat.
