Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

160 grams of King Cole Melody DK

4.50mm Clover crochet Hook

TENSION – 2.5 pattern rpt’s & 4 rows measure approx 1 inch

Cowl – Make 34ch, work (1dc, 1tr) into 2nd ch from hook, * miss 1ch, (1dc, 1tr) into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn. (16 groups)

Pattern Row – 1ch, (1dc, 1tr) into base of 1ch, * miss 1tr, (1dc, 1tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last tr and dc, miss 1tr, work 1dc into last dc. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row until 121 rows have been worked in all from beginning. Turn.

Border – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr and dc across, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end down first side of cowl, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end up second side of scarf, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc around four sides of cowl working 3dc into each of the three corners and 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Hat – Made in continuous rounds without turning until the end of the 5th Row

Make magic circle, (RS) work 3ch, 15tr into circle, pull loose yarn to close, join with ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. (15tr + 3ch)

2nd Row – (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (31tr + 3ch)

3rd Row – (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (47tr + 3ch)

4th Row – (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (63tr + 3ch)

5th Row – (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (79tr + 3ch)

6th Row – 1ch, (1dc, 1tr) into base of 1ch, * miss 1tr, (1dc, 1tr) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, miss 1tr, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (40 groups)

7th Row – 1ch, (1dc, 1tr) into base of 1ch, * miss 1tr, (1dc, 1tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last tr, miss 1tr, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt 7th Row 18 more times. Turn.

Brim – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr and dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 4 more rows of 1dc into each dc, slip stitching and turning at the end of each row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn on cowl and hat, add 3 medium size buttons evenly to cowl and fasten through gaps in groups.
