Keep your hot drinks warm and protect your hands from the heat with this mug jacket, fasten using a button with some pizazz or use a shaped one to compliment your colors.

Abbreviations
RS.     Right Side

ch.     Chain
sc.      Single Crochet
dc.     Double Crochet
trc.    Treble Crochet
rpt.    Repeat
sl st.  Slip Stitch

fptrc.  Work trc around front post of the trc on row below.

Crab Stitch. Working from left to right, work sc backwards.

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

ch3 counts as first dc

Size approx:  3 x 9 Inches (excluding loop)

Materials
I have used per jacket:-
10 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Color 1
Small amount of Stylecraft Special DK in each of the Colors 2 & 3

OR an equivalent yarn would be:-
0.35oz of Worsted Weight #3 in Color 1
Small amount of Worsted Weight #3 in each of the Colors 2 & 3

5.00mm crochet hook, decorative button

Using color 1 ch11, (RS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Fasten off.
Turn. (8dc + ch3)

Join in color 2.

Row 2 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end. Turn.

Row 3 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * 1fptrc around dc on row below last row worked, (sc row) 1sc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Fasten off. Turn. (4, fptrc)

Fasten off.

Work Rows 2 & 3 in color sequence as follows:-
Once in color 1
Once in color 3

# Once in color 1
Once in color 2
Once in color 1
Once in color 3 #

Rpt from # to # once.

Once in color 1
Once in color 2
Once in color 1

Turn.

Border – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 7st, 3sc in last st, working down the first side of jacket work 1sc in each row end to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each of next 7ch along starting ch edge, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in each row end up second side of jacket, 1sc in corner, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Work crab stitch (see abbrev) in each sc around all four sides, on the second short side make a 15ch loop, in the centre (ie. crab st in 5sc, 15ch, crab st in 5sc), sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off loose ends of yarn. Sew on button to correspond with buttonhole, fasten button though loop.
