For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
For 6 Mug Cosies.
30 grams of Paintbox Simply DK yarn in main color
30 grams of Paintbox Simply DK yarn in contrast color
An equivalent yarn would be a light worsted #3
4.00mm Clover Crochet Hook, Large Button
GAUGE – 1.5 groups & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch

With main color make 40ch loosely, work 1dc in 4th ch from hook, * skip 2ch, (2dc, ch2, 1sc) in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 3ch, skip 2ch, 2dc in last ch. Turn. (11 groups)
Fasten off. Join in contrast color.
Pattern Row – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, skip 1dc and sc, (2dc, ch2, 1sc) in next ch2 space, * skip 2dc and sc, (2dc, ch2, 1sc) in next ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to end, skip 3dc, 2dc in top of ch3. Turn.
Rpt Pattern Row twice.
Fasten off. Join in main color.
Rpt Pattern Row twice. DNT at the end of 2nd row.
Working down first short side of cozy, work 6sc evenly along in row ends, ch18, work 6 more sc evenly in row ends to corner, working along starting chain edge ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * skip 2ch, work (2dc, ch2, 1sc) in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 3ch, skip 2ch, 2dc in last ch, (11 groups) DNT, working up second short side of cozy, work 12sc evenly along in row ends to corner.
Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn. Sew on button to correspond with loop, fasten button though loop.
