Base of ch. Work in first stitch

Approx finished size:    8.5 x 7 Inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

30 grams of Patons 100% Cotton DK in each of colors 1, 2 & 3

An equivalent yarn would be a light worsted #3 cotton

4.00mm Clover Crochet Hook, large button

GAUGE – 5sc & 6 rows of sc measures approx 1 inch

With color 1 ch40 loosely, (RS) 2sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each of next 37ch, 3sc in last ch, working on opposite side of starting ch, work 1sc in each ch to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (80sc)

2nd Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

3rd to 5th Row – Rpt 2nd Row.

Fasten off. Join in color 2.

Pattern Row – ch1, 1hdc in base of ch1, * skip 1 stitch, 2hdc in next st, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first hdc on beginning of row. Turn. (80hdc)

Rpt Pattern Row in color sequence as follows:-

4 times in color 2
5 times in color 3
5 times in color 2

Fasten off. Join in color 1

Rpt 2nd Row three times. (80sc)

Buttonhole & loop Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 19sc, ch16, sl st to side of last sc worked, 1sc in each of next 39sc, ch3, skip 2sc, 1sc in each of remaining sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to ch3 space, work 2sc in space, working in the sc under loop, work 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (80sc)

Rpt 2nd Row once. Turn.

Peaked Edge – ch1, (1sc, ch2, 1sc) in base of ch1, * skip 1sc, (1sc, ch2, 1sc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to the first sc on the beginning of row.

Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, attach button to correspond with button loop.

With colour 1 make 40ch loosely, (RS) 2dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each of next 37ch, 3dc into last ch, working on opposite side of starting ch, work 1dc into each ch to end, ss to the first dc on the beginning of row. Turn. (80dc)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

3rd to 5th Row – Rpt 2nd Row.

Fasten off. Join in colour 2.

Pattern Row – 1ch, 1htr into base of 1ch, * miss 1 stitch, 2htr into next st, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row. Turn. (80htr)

Fasten off. Join in colour 1

Rpt 2nd Row three times. (80dc)

Buttonhole & loop Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 19dc, make 16ch, ss to side of last dc worked, 1dc into each of next 39dc, make 3ch, miss 2dc, 1dc into each of remaining dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to 3ch space, work 2dc into space, working into the dc under loop, work 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (80dc)

Rpt 2nd Row once. Turn.
