For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
350 grams of Bernat Softee yarn in colour 2
140 grams of Bernat Softee yarn in each of the colours 1 & 3
An equivalent yarn would be a double knitting yarn
6.00mm crochet hook for main part, 5.00mm hook for border

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Made in multiples of 2.
With colour 1 make 102ch loosely, (RS) 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (101dc)
2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.
3rd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dtr and dc to end. Turn. Fasten off.
Join in colour 2.
4th to 6th Rows – 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Fasten off.

7th Row – 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
8th Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

Join in colour 2.

Continue with colour 2 rpt 4th Row until work measures approx 23.5 inches. Turn. Fasten off.
Join in colour 1 and rpt 7th to 9th Rows. Turn. Fasten off.
Join in colour 2.
Rpt 10th to 12th Rows. Turn. Fasten off.
Rpt from # # to # # twice. Turn. Fasten off.
Border – Change to 5.00mm hook, with colour 2 work 1ch, 1dc into the stitch of the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, 3dc into corner, work dc evenly into row ends down first side, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, work dc evenly into row ends up second side, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Working 3dc into corners, start with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 2 more rows of dc around blanket, ss to first dc on beginning of each row. Fasten off.
Join in colour 3, working 3dc into corners rpt 7th to 9th Rows. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
