Christmas Crochet Hat Pattern – Ho-ho-ho crochet this Santa hat to keep your head warm and celebrate the Christmas season, the design was inspired by one that my aunt made many moons ago, so hope you enjoy.

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
65 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in colour 1
30 grams of King Cole Tinsel Chunky in colour 2
TENSION – 5dc & 5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Made in multiples of 2.
Brim – With colour 2 make 7ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (6dc)
2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row until you have 84 rows worked in all.
You can add more rows here if you wish to make the hat larger by adding multiples of 2.
Fold work in half and ss last row worked and starting chain edge together to make a round.
Turn work so you are working into row ends, (ss seam facing) make 1ch, work 1dc into each row end to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (84dc)
Fasten off. Turn work on to RS, (ss seam is on the inside)
Join in colour 1.
Main Body
First Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Second Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1tr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, work 1tr into last dc, ss to first dc on beginning row. Turn.
Third Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr and dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Second & Third Rows until 35 rows have been worked in all from brim or work measures approx 9 inches from beginning. Turn.
Decrease Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss dc, ss to first dc on the beginning of row. Turn. (42dc)
Rpt Decrease Row once, fasten off leaving a length of yarn to gather the top with. (21dc)
Using a darning needle thread loose yarn between the dc’s, gather together and secure.
Using colour 2 make a pom-pom, I used Clover pom-pom maker no 65.
Finishing – Weave in a trim off any loose ends of yarn, attach pom-pom to crown.
