This soft and snuggly baby blanket is crocheted in a light worsted #3 yarn, so is not going to make baby feel too warm.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

3ch counts as first tr

Approx Finished size:  30 x 30.5 inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

300 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in colour 1
100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in colour 2

4.50mm crochet hook

TENSION – 4.5tr & 3 pattern rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in multiples of 2 + 3

With colour 1 make 113ch loosely, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (110tr + 3ch)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn. (111dc)

3rd Row – 3ch, 1tr into each dc to end. Fasten off. Turn.

4th Row – Join in colour 2 with a ss, * 1dtr into next tr, ss into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. Fasten off. (55dtr)

5th Row – Join in colour 1 to first ss, make 3ch, work * 2tr into next dtr, miss ss, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

Rpt 2nd to 5th Rows until 85 rows have been worked.

Work 2nd & 3rd Rows once, your work should measure approx 28 inches from beginning. Turn.

Border – Continue with colour 1, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each tr to 3tch, 3dc into top of 3ch, work 109dc evenly into rows ends along the first side of the blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, work 109dc evenly into row ends up second side of blanket, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Second & Third Rows – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc around the blanket to end, working 3dc into each of the corners, ss to first dc at the end of row. Turn.

Fasten off at the end of Third Row.

Fourth Row – Join in colour 2, make 3ch, 1tr into each dc around blanket to end working 3tr into corners, ss to top of 3ch at beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.

Fifth Row – Join colour 1, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, working 3dc into each of the corners, ss to first dc. Turn.

Sixth Row – 1ch, (1dc, 3ch, 1dc) into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, (1dc, 3ch, 1dc) into next dc, * rpt from * to * all around, working (2dc, 3ch, 2dc) into each of the corners, ss to first dc at the end of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
