For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

120 grams of King Cole Baby DK in colour 1
100 grams of King Cole Baby DK in colour 2

4.00mm crochet hook, 3 small buttons

You can for a:-
Newborn baby use a 3.50mm hook
3-6 month use a 4.50mm hook
6-12 month use a 5.00mm hook.

TENSION – 4.5tr & 2 rows of tr measures approx 1 Inch on a 4.00mm hook

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Worked in one piece, starting with yoke.

Using colour 1, make 55ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr in each ch to end. Turn. (52tr + 3ch)

2nd Row – (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 4tr, * rpt from * to * to 3tch, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (62tr + 3ch)

3rd Row – 3ch, 1tr in each tr to 3tch, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Second & Third Rows on skirt form the pattern, rpt these 2 rows until 8 shell rows have been worked from yoke or work measures approx 10 Inches from shoulder. Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2 – With WS facing, rejoin yarn into side of tr at the base of armhole, make 3ch, * 1 vst into next shell group, 1tr into dc, * rpt from * to * to last shell, work 1 vst into shell, miss 2tr, 1tr into side of tr at base of armhole, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (7vst)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, * 1 shell into vst, 1dc into tr, * rpt from * to * to last vst, 1 shell into vst, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Pattern Row 1 – 3ch, * 1 vst into next shell group, 1tr into dc, * rpt from * to * to last shell, work 1 vst into shell, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.

Cuff – (Dec Row) 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, * miss 1tr, 1dc into next (tr, 1ch space & tr), miss 1tr, 1htr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last shell, miss 1tr, 1dc into next (tr, 1ch space and tr) miss 1tr, ss to first dc. Turn. (28 stitches)

Eyelet Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, 1dc into next st, * 2ch, miss 1st, 1dc into each of next 2st, * rpt from * to * to last 2st, make 2ch, miss 1st, 1dc into last st, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, work 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (28dc)

Make 1ch, work 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt row once.

Picot Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, 1dc into next dc, * make 3ch, work 1dc into 3rd ch from hook, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, make 3ch, work 1dc into 3rd ch from hook, miss 1dc, 1dc into last dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Button Bands – Starting at lower edge RS facing, working on right hand side of front edge work 39dc evenly into row ends up front edge to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch around neck to next corner, 3dc into corner, work 39dc evenly into row ends down second front edge to end. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, 1dc into each dc to neck edge. Turn.

Work Picot Row same as for cuffs along the front edge to end. (do not ss to first dc) Fasten off.

With WS facing return to neck edge on second side, rpt the last 2 rows.  Fasten off.

Yoke Tie – (optional) With colour 2 make 201ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to end. Fasten off.

Cuff Ties x 2 – (optional) With colour 2 make 76ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to end. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gap under arms, weave in and trim off loose ends of yarn. Turn through to RS. Sew on 3 buttons evenly down front of yoke, use holes in the tr’s as buttonholes. Thread chain ties through every alternate tr around last row on yolk and through eyelet holes on cuffs, tie into bows.

Bloomers – Using colour 2, make 90ch, ss to first ch to make a round (RS) make 3ch, 1tr into each ch to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn. (89tr + 3ch)

Next Round – 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn.

Rpt last round until 10 rounds have been worked in all. Turn. (add extra rounds here if you wish)

Divide for legs

First Leg – 3ch, 1tr into next 44tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of rounds. Turn.

Rpt last rounds until 10 rounds have been worked in all. (add more rounds if you wish)

Next Round – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, * miss 1tr, 1 shell into next tr, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr * rpt from * to * to last 4tr, miss 1tr, 1 shell into next tr, miss 2tr, ss to first dc. Fasten off. (11, shell groups)

Second Leg – Return to remaining stitches at division and continue in the same way as first leg. Fasten off.

Waistband – With RS of work facing and starting with 1ch work 90dc evenly along cast on edge at waist, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Work 1 row of Picot Edge same as cuffs. Fasten off.

Waist ties – Using colour 1 make 151ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to end. Fasten off. (use ribbon if you prefer)

Leg Cuff Ties x 2 – (optional) With colour 1 make 76ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to end. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gap on crotch, weave in loose ends of yarn and trim. Turn through to RS. Thread chain ties or ribbon through alternate tr’s at waist and ankles and tie.

Booties x 2 – With colour 1 make 24ch loosely, ss to first ch to form a ring, (RS) 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, 1dc into each ch to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (24dc)

Eyelet Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, * 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 2dc. * rpt from * to * last 2dc, 2ch miss 1dc, 1dc into last dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, work 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (24dc)

Make 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt row once. Fasten off. Turn.

Instep – Miss 8dc, rejoin yarn to next dc, 1ch, 1dc into base of ch, 1dc into each of next 7dc. Turn. (8dc)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, 1dc into each of next 7dc. Turn.

Rpt last row until 8 rows have been worked.  Fasten off.

Shape Foot – With WS facing return to stitch where you casted off at ankle, re-join yarn and work 1dc into next 8dc along ankle, 8dc along instep, 8dc along toe, 8dc along opposite of instep, 8dc along ankle, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (40dc) (see pic 3)

Dec Row (1) – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (see abbrev) 1dc into each of the next 15dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (twice), 1dc into next 15dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into last dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (36dc)

Chain Tie x 2 – Using colour 2 make 76ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to end. Fasten off. (use ribbon if you prefer)

Finishing – Weave in ends. Turn through to RS, thread chain tie or ribbon through eyelet holes on ankle and tie.

Bonnet – Using colour 2, make 58ch loosely, (RS) work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, * miss 1ch, 1 shell into next ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. (14 shell groups). Turn.

1st row – 3ch, * 1 vst into 1ch space of shell, 1tr into dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

2nd row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, * 1 shell into vst, 1dc into tr, * rpt from * to * to last vst and 3ch, 1 shell into vst, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.

1st & 2nd Rows form the pattern, rpt until a further 2 complete patterns have been worked. Fasten off. (see pic 4)

Back Frill – With RS facing rejoin yarn to front loop of dc at the beginning of the row just worked, 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of ch, then working into front loop of stitch only throughout the row, * 1 shell into 1ch of shell, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end.  Fasten off. Turn. (see pic 5)

With WS facing miss 5 shells and rejoin yarn to the loose loops on next dc (the row in front of the just worked), make 3ch, * work 1 vst into loose loop of 1ch on next shell, 1tr into loose loop of next dc, * rpt from * to * 3 more times. Turn.

Starting with 2nd Row continue in pattern as set until back panel fits along side edges (approx 12 rows). Fasten off. (see pic 6)

With WS side facing, work 57dc evenly along cast on edge. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 1 shell into next dc, miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Fasten off. (14 shell groups)

With WS facing ss or over sew back seams together through the loose loops under back frill. (see pic 7) Turn through to RS, work 1 row of tr stitch evenly along neck edge of bonnet.

Chain Tie – With colour 1 make 121ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each ch to end. Fasten off. (use ribbon if you prefer)

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, thread chain tie or ribbon through alternate tr’s on neck edge, tie with a bow.

Next Round – ch1, 1sc in stitch at base of ch, * skip 1dc, 1 shell in next dc, skip 1dc, 1sc in next dc * rpt from * to * to last 4dc, skip 1dc, 1 shell in next dc, skip 2dc, sl st to first sc. Fasten off. (11, shell groups)

Second Leg – Return to remaining stitches at division and continue in the same way as first leg. Fasten off.

Waistband – With RS of work facing and starting with ch1 work 90sc evenly along cast on edge at waist, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with ch1, 1sc in stitch at base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Work 1 row of Picot Edge same as cuffs. Fasten off.

Waist ties – Using color 1 ch151, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch to end. Fasten off. (use ribbon if you prefer)

Leg Cuff Ties x 2 – (optional) With color 1 ch76, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch to end. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gap on crotch, weave in loose ends of yarn and trim. Turn through to RS. Thread chain ties or ribbon through alternate dc’s at waist and ankles and tie.

Eyelet Row – ch1, 1sc in stitch at base of ch, * ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in next 2sc. * rpt from * to * last 2sc, ch2 skip 1sc, 1sc in last sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with ch1, 1sc in stitch at base of ch, work 1sc in each sc and ch2 space to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (24sc)

ch1, 1sc in stitch at base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt row once. Fasten off. Turn.

Return to cast on edge, with RS facing rejoin yarn to top of bootie, ch1, 1sc in stitch at base of ch1, * skip 1ch, 1 shell in next ch, skip 1ch, 1sc in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last ch3, skip 1ch, 1 shell in next ch, skip 1ch, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off. (6, shell groups)

Chain Tie x 2 – Using color 2 ch76, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch to end. Fasten off. (use ribbon if you prefer)

Finishing – Weave in ends. Turn through to RS, thread chain tie or ribbon through eyelet holes on ankle and tie.

Bonnet – Using color 2, ch58 loosely, (RS) work 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * skip 1ch, 1 shell in next ch, skip 1ch, 1sc in next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. (14 shell groups). Turn.

1st row – ch3, * 1 vst in ch1 space of shell, 1dc in sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

2nd row – ch1, 1sc in stitch at base of ch, * 1 shell in vst, 1sc in dc, * rpt from * to * to last vst and ch3, 1 shell in vst, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn.

1st & 2nd Rows form the pattern, rpt until a further 2 complete patterns have been worked. Fasten off. (see pic 4)

Back Frill – With RS facing rejoin yarn to front loop of sc at the beginning of the row just worked, ch1, 1sc in stitch at base of ch, then working in front loop of stitch only throughout the row, * 1 shell in ch1 of shell, 1sc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end.  Fasten off. Turn. (see pic 5)

With WS facing skip 5 shells and rejoin yarn to the loose loops on next sc (the row in front of the just worked), ch3, * work 1 vst in loose loop of ch1 on next shell, 1dc in loose loop of next sc, * rpt from * to * 3 more times. Turn.

Starting with 2nd Row continue in pattern as set until back panel fits along side edges (approx 12 rows). Fasten off. (see pic 6)

With WS side facing, work 57sc evenly along cast on edge. Turn.

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in stitch at base of ch1, * skip 1sc, 1 shell in next sc, skip 1sc, 1sc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Fasten off. (14 shell groups)

With WS facing sl st or over sew back seams together through loose loops under back frill. (see pic 7) Turn through to RS, work 1 row of dc stitch evenly along neck edge of bonnet.

Chain Tie – With color 1 ch121, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch to end. Fasten off. (use ribbon if you prefer)

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, thread chain tie or ribbon through alternate dc’s on neck edge, tie with a bow.
