130 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in each of the colours 1 & 2

4.00mm Clover crochet hook, 2 Buttons

TENSION – 4.5tr and 2.5 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Sweater Back # With colour 1 make 46ch loosely, working into back bump of stitch (see pic) work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (43tr + 3ch)

Rib – 3ch, * fptr around next tr, bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (see abbrev for fptr & bptr) Fasten off, join in colour 2.

Rpt last row twice. Turn. Fasten off, join in colour 1.

Next Row – (Inc) 3ch, (RS) 1tr into each of next 21tr, 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (44tr + 3ch)

Shoulder Fastener – Make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 11tr. Turn. (12dc)

Work 2 more rows in dc on these 12 stitches. Turn.

Buttonhole Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next dc, 2ch, miss next dc, 1dc into each of next 6dc, 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into last 2dc. Turn. (2 buttonholes made)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end. Turn.

Work 1 more row of 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.

Sweater Front – Rpt from # to # on back of sweater.

Join in colour 2, rpt Pattern Rows 1 to 4 twice, followed by Pattern Row 1, you should have 18 rows worked in all from Rib or your work measures approx 8 Inches. Turn.

Shape Neck (Side 1) Keeping continuity of pattern as set throughout the neck shaping make 3ch, work pattern over each of next 13st’s. Turn. (13tr + 3ch)

Rpt last row once.

Next Row (Dec Row) – 3ch, work pattern over each of next 10st’s, tr2tog (see abbrev) over next 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (12tr + 3ch)

Next Row – Make 3ch, 1tr into next tr, bptr around each of next 2tr, 1tr into next tr, pc into next tr, 1tr into next tr, bptr around each of next 2tr, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Fasten off. Join in colour 2.

Rpt the last row twice. Turn. Fasten off. Join in colour 1.

Next Row – (Inc Row) 3ch, 2tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to 3tch, 2tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (26tr + 3ch)

1st Pattern Row – Make 3ch, 1tr into each of next 9tr, bptr around each of next 2tr, 1tr into each of next 3tr, bptr around each of next 2tr, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

2nd Pattern Row – (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to first post tr, work fptr around next 2tr, 1tr into each of next 3tr, fptr around each of next 2tr, 1tr into each tr to end, 2tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (28tr + 3ch)

Rpt 1st Pattern Row. Fasten off. Join in colour 2.

Starting with 2nd Pattern Row continue in pattern as set, increasing 1tr each end of every alternate row until 36tr + 3ch remain, 11 rows have been worked in all from the Rib or your work measures approx 6 Inches from beginning. Fasten off.

Assemble – With WS side facing whip stich right hand side shoulder seam together, leave left shoulder seam open (buttonhole side), fold sleeves in half lengthways, then placing centre folds to shoulder, whip stitch into position. Whip stitch side and sleeve seams together (see pic)

Neck Edge – Using colour 1 with RS facing and starting on side of open shoulder, work 10dc down front edge, 17dc across front, 10dc up second front edge, 1dc into each of 21dc along back. Turn. (58dc)

Next Row – Work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 30dc, dec 1dc (see abbrev) over next 2dc, 1dc into each of next 15dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work one more row of 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes on shoulders and fasten.

Pants – Using colour 1 make 90ch loosely, ss to first ch to form a ring (RS) make 3ch, 1tr in each ch to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (89tr + 3ch)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc. Turn.

First Pattern Row – (RS) 3ch, 1tr into each dc to end. Turn.

Second Pattern Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end. Turn.

Rpt First & Second Pattern Rows until 10 complete patterns have been worked in all or work measures approx 6.5 inches from beginning, ss to beginning of row. Turn.

Divide for legs – 3ch, 1tr into each of next 44tr, miss 45dc, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. Continuing on these 45 stitches, rpt First & Second Pattern rows, turning and ss at the end of each row until 4 complete patterns have been worked in all for first leg. Do not turn after 4th complete pattern.

Turn Up – Working into BLO, (see abbrev) make 3ch, work 1tr into each dc to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.

Working through both loops from now on work Second Pattern Row. Fasten off.

Work First & Second Pattern Rows once in colour 2 and once in colour 1. Fasten off.

Second Leg – Return to remaining stitches at division, join in colour 1 and continue in the same way as first leg.

With RS of work facing, and starting with 1ch work 90dc evenly along cast on edge at waist. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work one more row in dc on these 90dc. Fasten off.

Chain Tie – Using yarn double thickness, make 130ch. Fasten off.

Finishing – Sew in and tie of loose ends of yarn. Close small gap at division of legs. Thread chain tie through alternate tr at waist and tie with a bow. For tassels, cut 4 lengths of yarn approx 6 inches long, (twice) if you prefer a longer or a thicker tassel just add more length and more strips, attach tassels to each end of chain tie, by threading cut ends through last ch and pulling ends through loop to secure. Trim tassels so they are even.

Beanie – Made in rounds without turning until Row 6

With colour 1, make a magic circle, 3ch, work 13tr into ring, join with ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row.

Row 2 – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr in each of next 13tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (27tr + 3ch)

Row 3 – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (41tr + 3ch)

Row 4 – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (55tr + 3ch)

Row 3 – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (41dc + ch3)

Row 4 – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (55dc + ch3)

Row 5 – ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (69dc + ch3)

Row 6 – ch3, 1dc each dc to end sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.

Row 7 – ch3, * bpdc around each of next 2dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 4dc, bpdc around each of next 2dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.

Row 8 – ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * fpdc around each of next 2dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, fpdc around each of next 2dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.

Join in color 2 and rpt Rows 9, 10, 11, 12, followed by 9, 10.

Starting with ch1, work 3 rows of sc stitch, sl st and turn at the end of each row.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn.
