Crochet Flower Headband

Crochet Flower Headband – Make this pretty headband in various sizes from babies to adults, I have used my rose flower to adorn with, but you can add any applique to decorate it.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

3ch counts as first tr

Size to fit approx:  Babies to adult sizes – 13” (15” 17” 19”) Head Circumference

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

15 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 1
10 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 2

4.00mm Crochet Hook
4.50mm Crochet Hook (for flower)

TENSION – 6tr measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Headband made in multiples of 3.

Headband – Make 60ch (69, 78, 87) loosely using 4.00mmm hook and colour 1 , (RS) working into back bump (see pic) work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each bump to last ch, 1dtr into last ch. Turn.

Border – Working along 1st side of headband work 1ch, (1dc, 2tr, 1dc) into stitch at base of 1ch, * miss 2tr, work (1dc, 2tr, 1dc) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr and 3tch, miss 2tr, work (1dc, 2tr, 1dc) into top of tch, work ss into 3ch space, starting from 1st of 3tch, rpt from * to * along 2nd side of headband, 2ss into dtr, ss to first dc. Fasten off.

Flower Applique – Using 4.50mm hook and colour 2 make 29ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (28dc)

Petals – (RS) Make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 4htr into next dc, 1dc into next dc (first petal), * 5tr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * four more times. (second petal), # 7dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, # rpt from # to # 6 more times (third petal), 1dc into last dc. Fasten off.

Roll flower up working from first to third petal and using loose yarn, sew around petals at back of flower to secure.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn on headband and flower, attach button to tch end and fasten through space created with dtr, sew rose to headband.
