Base of ch. Work into first stitch.

3ch counts as first tr.

Finished size approx:  9.5 Inches x 9.5 Inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

30 grams of Stylecraft Special DK yarn in colour 1
Small amount of Stylecraft Special DK yarn in colour 2

4.00mm Clover crochet hook

TENSION – 4.5dc and 5 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Make 22ch, work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, * make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into each of next 2ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (7, 2tr groups)

2nd Row – 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 1ch space, 1tr and 3tch, make 1ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into next tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt 2nd Row until 10 rows have been worked in all. Turn.

Edging – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr and 1ch space to end, 3dc into top of 3ch, work 18dc evenly into row ends down first side of doily, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along cast on edge, 3dc into corner, work 18dc evenly into row ends up second side of the doily, 1dc into base of 1ch, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn.

Join in colour 2, starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc around all four sides of doily working 3dc into each corner, 1dc into base of 1ch, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt last row three more times. Turn.

Next Row – 4ch, * miss 1dc, 1tr into next dc, 1ch, * rpt from * to * around doily to corner, working vst (see abbrev) into each corner, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each tr and 1ch space around doily working 3dc into 1ch space on each corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Work one row of 1dc into each dc to end, working 3dc into each corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.

Pattern Row 1 – Join in colour 1, make 1ch, (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) into base of 1ch, * miss 2dc, (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) into next dc, * rpt from * to * around four sides of doily to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. DNT.

Pattern Row 2 – ss to first 2ch space, (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) into same space, * miss 4dc, (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) into next 2ch space, * rpt from * to * around four sides of doily to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row.  Fasten off.

Rosebud – Using colour 1 make 15ch, work 2htr into 3rd ch from hook, (miss 1ch, 3htr into next ch), twice, (miss 1ch, 3tr into next ch), three times, miss 1ch, ss into last ch. Fasten off.

Roll from htr to tr’s to make flower shape, secure at the back with loose ends of yarn.

Finishing – Weave in loose ends of yarn, attach rose to a corner.
