Dc2tog. Pull up a loop from each of the next dc and 1ch space, yrh, pull through 3 loops.
Base of ch. Work into first stitch
Approx Size to fit: Adult Head
Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
100 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in colour 1
Small amount of King Cole Comfort Aran in colour 2
5.50mm crochet hook
TENSION – 5dc & 4 rows measures approx 1 inch

With colour 1 make 48ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each of next 7ch, dc2tog (see abrev) over next 2ch, * make 1ch, dc2tog over next 2ch, * rpt from * to * to last dc, make 1ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn.
2nd Row – 1ch, dc2tog over first dc and 1ch space, * make 1ch, dc2tog over next dc and 1ch space, * rpt from * to * to last 9dc, make 1ch, 1dc into next dc, working into BLO work 1dc into each of next 8dc. Turn.
3rd Row – Working through BLO work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 7dc, working through both loops dc2tog over next dc and 1ch space, * make 1ch, dc2tog over next dc and 1ch space, * rpt from * to * to last dc, make 1ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn.
4th Row – 1ch, dc2tog over first dc and 1ch space, * make 1ch, dc2tog over next dc and 1ch space, * rpt from * to * to last 9dc, make 1ch, 1dc into next dc, working into BLO work 1dc into each of next 8dc. Turn.
Rpt 3rd & 4th Rows until 66 rows have been worked or work measures approx 16.5 Inches from beginning. You can add more rows here for a wider hat if you wish.
Fold your work in half widthways and slip stitch the last row you just worked and the starting chain edge together to make a round. Do not Fasten off.
Turn your work onto the side so you are working into row ends.
Top – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1 row end, 1dc into next row end, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (33dc)
Fasten off leaving a length of yarn to gather the top with.
Weave loose length of yarn through the row of dc’s evenly to end and pull to gather tightly, secure the yarn so it does not break free.
Using colour 2 make a pom-pom, I used clover pom-pom maker size 85
Turn up brim, attach pom-pom to crown.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
