Formats
Two easy formats have been used to write these free crochet baby girls socks pattern for UK crocheters and USA crafters.
Best Yarn
For great results from this free crochet baby girls socks pattern it is always best to use the recommended yarn in the pattern materials section.
I have used King Cole Big Value Baby 4ply in white, lilac and pink for the samples of the baby socks, but you can choose from a large range of colours.
Crochet Hook Size
Pattern asks for a 3.50mm crochet hook, but you can change yarn and hook sizes higher or lower to make the baby socks bigger or smaller.

Materials

30 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby 4ply yarn in colour 1
Small amount of King Cole Big Value Baby 4ply yarn in colour 2

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Cuff – With colour 1, make 8ch, 1dc into second ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (7dc)
2nd Row – Working into back loop of stitch only, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Rpt last row until 24 rows have been worked in all.
Fold piece in half (bottom to the top) so that the short sides of both ends are lined up, ss through both sides of your work to make a ring. DNT.
Leg – (RS) Working into row ends along side of ring, work 1ch, 1dc into each row end to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (24dc)
Second Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt last row until 10 rows have been worked in all.
Heel – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 11dc, turn leaving remaining 12dc un-worked.
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 3 more rows of 1dc into each dc to end. Turning at the end of each row. (12dc)
Row 5 – (Dec Row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 3dc, dec (see abbrev) 1dc over next 2dc, (twice) 1dc into each of next 4dc. Turn. (10dc)
Row 6 – (Dec Row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 3dc, dec 1dc over next 2dc, 1dc into each of next 4dc. Turn. (9dc)
With WS facing fold heel in half length ways and ss to together both sides of top (row just worked) to seal heel. Fasten off. Push heel through to RS
Instep & Sole Row – With RS facing join yarn to first row end (next to ss edge you have just created), 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, working into row ends along first side of heel, work 1dc into each of next five row ends, 1dc into each of next 12dc along instep and sole, 1dc into each of next six row ends on second side of heel, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (24dc)
Row Two – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt last Row Two until 14 rows have been worked in all.
Shape Toe – (Dec Row) 1ch, * dec 1dc over next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc. Turn. (12dc)
Rpt last row once. Fasten off leaving length of yarn. (6dc)
Working on WS of work, thread length of yarn through last row to gather toe.
Join in colour 2 to starting chain edge on cuff, (next to ss edge) make 2ch, work 2tr into the stitch at the base of 2ch, 3tr into each ch to end, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim. Turn through to RS and fold down cuff.
