hdc cross stitch tutorial, this classic crossed half double crochet stitch is a very easy stitch pattern. I have added a row of double crochet stitches between the rows of crossed half double crochet stitches, I love how the stitch looks when it’s worked in this combination.

I have made the samples in a worsted weight #4 yarn (Aran for UK crocheters)

Crochet Hook Size

I have used a 5.50mm crochet hook size for the samples of the crochet hdc cross stitch tutorial, but check the ball band of the yarn that you are using for the correct hook size for that ply.

RS.     Right Side

ch.      Chain
htr.     Half Treble Crochet
tr.       Treble Crochet

2ch counts as first htr
3ch counts as first tr

UK INSTRUCTIONS: 

Made in multiples of any even number.

I have made 40ch for the swatches, (RS) work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (37tr + 3ch)

2nd Row – 2ch, * miss 1tr, work 1htr into next tr, working across the front of the htr just made, work 1htr into tr you just missed * (this makes the cross) rpt from * to * to end, 1htr into top of 3ch. Turn. (18 cross stitch, 1htr + 2ch)

3rd Row – 3ch, 1tr into each htr to end, 1hdc into top of 2ch. Turn.

Rpt 2nd & 3rd Rows until required length. Turn.
