Misty Baby Crochet Set

Misty baby crochet set, the cardigan of this sweet set is crocheted from the neck down and the hat is worked from the crown to the brim, both are made in a slip stitch and half double crochet (half treble for UK users) design, it is a two row repeat pattern, easy for Grandma’s, aunt’s or friends to make as an adorable gift.

The pattern has been written for light worsted #3 (double knitting for UK users) yarn, using a 4.50mm hook, but you can change hook sizes and use thicker yarn to make the outfit bigger if you wish, you will also need 5 small buttons.

13th Row – 3ch, 1tr into each htr and ss to end. Turn. (84tr + 3ch)

14th Row – 1ch, ss into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * htr into next tr, ss into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, working last ss into top of 3tch. Turn.

Rpt 13th & 14th Rows until you have 30 rows worked in all from beginning. Turn.

31st to 33rd Rows – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each stitch to end. Do Not Turn after the 33rd Row.

Button/Buttonhole Bands – With RS of work facing, working along right hand front edge, work 41dc evenly into row ends along first front edge, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into each ch around neck, 3dc into corner, work 41dc evenly into row ends down second front edge. Turn.

Button Band – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to corner. Turn.

Rpt the last row once. Fasten off. 

Buttonhole Band – Return to opposite front edge, with WS facing and working from neck downwards, join yarn to first dc, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of next 9dc, * rpt from * to * 3 more times, 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into remaining dc. Turn. (5 Buttonholes made)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end. Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2 – With WS facing join yarn to first tr underarm were you divided for the armholes, work 1ch, htr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, ss into next tr, * htr into next tr, ss into next tr, * rpt from * to * across the next 26tr to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row to make a round. Turn.

Second Row – 3ch, 1tr into each ss and htr to end, ss to top of 3tch on beginning of row. Turn. (29tr + 3ch)

Third Row – 1ch, htr into next tr, ss into next tr, * htr into next tr, ss into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first htr on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt Second & Third Rows six more times. Turn.

Cuff – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ss and htr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work 2 rows of 1dc into each dc to end, slip stitch to first dc and turning at the end of each row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gaps under arms, weave in any loose ends of yarn, sew on buttons to correspond with the buttonholes.

Beanie – Worked in rounds without turning until the end of the 6th Row.

Make 6ch, join with a ss to form a ring, (RS) 3ch, work 16tr into ring, join with ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (16tr + 3ch)

Second Row – (Inc row) 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (32tr + 3ch)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch and turning at the end of each row, work 2 more rows of 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of each row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim.
