This waffle ear warmer headband, is a thick and chunky band to keep you warm on colder days, made in  a light worsted #3 (double knitting for UK) yarn with a 4.50mm crochet hook.

Approx Finished Size:  4 Inches Wide x 19 inch circumference

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, you will need approximately:-

55 grams of Caron Simply Soft #4 yarn

An equivalent yarn would be an Aran weight

4.50mm crochet hook

TENSION – 5tr and 3 rows measures approx 1 Inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in multiples of 4 + 1.

Make 81ch loosely, ss to first ch to make a ring, make 1ch, work 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1tr into each ch to end, miss 1tch, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn. (81tr)

2nd Round – 1ch, (RS) 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work fptr (see abbrev) around next tr, * 1tr into each of next 2tr, fptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, 1tr into tr, miss 1tch, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn.

3rd Round – 1ch, 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, fptr around next tr, 1tr into next tr, * fptr around next 2tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, miss 1tch, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn.

4th Round – 1ch, 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work fptr around next tr, * 1tr into each of next 2tr, fptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, 1tr into tr, miss 1tch, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt 3rd & 4th Rounds until 10 rounds have been worked in all. Turn.

11th Round – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Fasten off. (81dc)

Join yarn to starting chain edge, work 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each ch to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Fasten off. (81dc)

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn.
