For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

110 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 1
40 grams of King Cole Comfort Kids DK in colour 2

4.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hooks, 3 buttons

TENSION – 4tr and 2 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Worked in one piece, starting with yoke

Using 4.50mm hook and colour 1 make 55ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into the next 6ch’s (front), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch’s (shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 17ch’s (back), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch’s. (shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch’s (front). Turn. (60tr + 3ch)

2nd Row – (Inc Row) 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to next 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr of 3tr group, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr of 3tr group, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (68tr + 3ch)

3rd to 6th Row – rpt 2nd Row. Turn. (100tr + 3ch)

7th Row – (Inc & Divide for Armholes) – Make 3ch, 1tr in next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr,* rpt from * to * to centre tr of the first 3tr group, 2tr into centre tr, miss next 20tr, 1tr into centre tr of next 3tr group, rpt from * to * to centre tr of next 3tr group, miss next 20tr, rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch, Turn. Commence Body – (see abbrev for instructions on vst and shell)
3ch, miss 1tr, * shell into next tr, miss 2tr, vst into next tr, miss 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 5tr and 3ch, miss 2tr, shell into next tr, miss 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (15 shells, 14 vst, 1tr + 3ch)

Pattern Row – 3ch, * work shell into 1ch space of next shell, vst into 1ch space on next vst, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row until 14 shell & vst rows have been worked in all from yoke or work measures approx 11 Inches from shoulder. Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2 – With RS facing join colour 1 to side of tr under arm, work 3ch, 1tr into same space, 1tr into each of next 20tr, 2tr into side of tr on opposite side of sleeve, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (23tr + 3ch)

Next Row – Make 3ch, work (1tr, 1ch, 2tr) into stitch at base of 3ch, * miss 2tr, vst into next tr, miss 2tr, shell into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 5tr, miss 2tr, vst into next tr, miss 2tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (4 shells & 4 vst)

1st Pattern Row – ss over tr and into first 1ch space, work (4ch, 1tr) into same 1ch space, * shell into 1ch space of next shell, vst into 1ch space of next vst, * rpt from * to * to last shell, work shell into shell, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of row. Turn.

2nd Pattern Row – ss over tr’s and into first 1ch space, work (3ch, 1tr, 1ch, 2tr) into same 1ch space, * vst into 1ch space of next vst, shell into 1ch space of next shell, * rpt from * to * to last vst, work vst into vst, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt 1st & 2nd Pattern Row twice, work 1st Pattern Row once, under arm sleeve seam should measure approx 4.5 Inches. Fasten off. Turn.

Cuff – Join in colour 2, missing all 1ch spaces, work 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (24dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, slip stitching and turning at the end of each row, work 3 more rows of 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.

Button/Buttonhole Bands – With RS facing re-join colour 2 to right hand side of front edge, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 41 more dc evenly into row ends to neck edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch around neck, 3dc into corner, 42dc evenly into row ends down second front edge. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to corner, 1dc into corner. Turn. (44dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch and turning at the end of each row, work 2 more rows of 1dc into each dc. Fasten off.

Return to first back edge and starting from corner and working from neck downwards, with WS facing work 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. (44dc)

Buttonhole Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 27dc * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of next 6dc, * rpt from * to * once, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (3 buttonholes made)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, work 1dc into each 2ch space and dc to end. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gap under arms, weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim off, attach buttons to correspond with buttonholes.

Beanie Hat – Worked in rounds without turning until the end of the 6th Row.

Using 4.00mm hook and colour 2 make 6ch, join with a ss to form a ring, (RS) 3ch, work 16tr into ring, join with ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (16tr + 3ch)

Second Row – (Inc row) 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (32tr + 3ch)

Third Row – (Inc row) 3ch, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (48tr + 3ch)

Fourth Row – (Inc row) 3ch, * 2tr in next tr, 1tr in each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (64tr + 3ch)

Fifth & Sixth Rows – 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row, turn at the end of the 6th Row.

Seventh Row – 3ch, miss 1tr, shell into next tr, * miss 2tr, vst into next tr, miss 2tr, shell into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr, miss 2tr, 1tr into stitch at base of 3ch, make 1ch, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (11 shells, 11 vst)

Pattern Row One – ss to first 1ch space, (4ch, 1tr) into same space * work shell into 1ch space of next shell, vst into 1ch space on next vst, * rpt from * to * to last shell, work shell into 1ch space on shell, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of row. Turn.

Pattern Row Two – ss to first 1ch space, (3ch, 1tr, 1ch, 2tr) into same space, work vst into 1ch space of next vst, * shell into 1ch space of next shell, vst into 1ch space on next vst, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows One & Two until 7 shell & vst rows have been worked in all or work measures approx 5.5 Inches from crown. Fasten off.

Join in colour 1, make 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, missing all 1ch spaces, work 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (66dc)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch and turning at the end of the row, work 2 rows of 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of each row. Fasten off.

Make a pom-pom in colour 1, I used clover Pom-Pom maker number 65.

Finishing – Weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim, attach pom-pom to crown of bobble hat.
