4ch counts as first tr + 1ch
Approx Finished Size: 4.5 x 4.5 inches
Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used:-
Small amounts of King Cole Cottonsoft DK in each of the colours 1 & 2
TENSION – 1 pattern rpt & 6 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:
Made in multiples of 6 + 4
With colour 1 make 16ch loosely, work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each of next 2ch, * make 3ch, miss 3ch, 1dc into each of next 3ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.
Pattern Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 2dc, * make 3ch, miss 3ch, 1dc into each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Fasten off. Turn.
Changing colour after every 2 rows rpt Pattern Row until 14 rows have been worked in all. Do not fasten off. Turn.
Border – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 2dc, 2dc into 3ch space, 1dc into each of next 3dc, 2dc into next 3ch space, 1dc into each of next 2dc, 3dc into last dc, work 1dc into each row end down first side of coaster, 3dc into corner, working along starting chain edge, work 1dc into each of next 2ch, 2dc into 3ch space, 1dc into each of next 3ch, 2dc into next 3ch space, 1dc into each of next 2ch, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into each row end up second side of coaster, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
2nd Row – 4ch, * miss 1dc, 1tr into next dc, make 1ch, * rpt from * to * to corner, work (1tr, 1ch, 1tr) into corner, make 1ch, rpt from * to * around coaster, working (1tr, 1ch, 1tr, 1ch) into each of the corners to last dc, miss dc, work (1tr, 1ch) into stitch at base of 4ch on beginning of row, ss to 3rd of 4ch. Turn.
3rd Row – 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each tr and 1ch space around coaster to end, working 3dc into each of the 1ch spaces on the remaining corners. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn.
