TENSION – 5tr and 2.5 rows of tr’s measures approx 1 Inch

Coat – Worked in one piece starting from yoke.

With colour 1 make 57ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into the next 6ch, (front) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch, (shoulder) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 19ch, (back) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch, (shoulder) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch. (front) Turn. (62tr + 3ch)

2nd to 10th Rows – Make 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr on 3tr group, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr on 3tr group, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

You should have 134tr + 3ch at the end of Row 10. Fasten off.

Next Row – 3ch, (1tr, 2ch, 1dc) into base of 3ch, * miss 2tr, (2tr, 2ch, 1dc) into next tr, rpt from * to * to last 2tr, miss last 2tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (10 Groups)

Button/Buttonhole Bands – With RS facing and starting at lower edge on right hand side of coat, work 42dc evenly into row ends up first front edge to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each stitch around neck to next corner, 3dc into corner, work 42dc into row ends down second front edge to end. Turn.

Button Band – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc along front edge to end. Turn. Rpt last row twice. Fasten off.

Buttonhole Band – Return to neck edge on first front edge, working from neck downwards make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Buttonhole Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to the bottom of yoke, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 5dc, * rpt from * to * twice, 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of the remaining dc. Fasten off. (4 buttonholes made)

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gaps under arms, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes, fold back approx 2 to 3 rows on sleeves to make a cuff.

Square Hat – With colour 1 make 72ch loosely, ss to first ch to form a ring, make 1ch, (WS) 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ch to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (72dc)

Next Row – 3ch, (1tr, 2ch, 1dc) into base of 3ch, * miss 2dc, (2tr, 2ch, 1dc) into next dc, rpt from * to * to last 2dc, miss last 2dc, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (24 Groups)

Rpt Pattern Row from sleeves thirteen more times. Fasten off.

Brim – Join in colour 2 and work Pattern Row from sleeves five more times. (you should have 21 rows worked in all from beginning.

Chain Bow – With colour 1 make 61ch. Fasten off.

Finishing – With WS facing centre the slip stitch seam to the back of the hat, with colour 1 ss the cast on edge (top of hat) loosely together to close the open gap.

Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, turn through to the right side. Fold up five rows of brim, thread chain tie through a couple of stitches in the centre of the brim and tie in a bow.

Booties x 2 (Starting with Sole) – With colour 1 make 11ch, (RS) 3htr into 4th ch from hook, 1htr into each of next 6ch, 8htr into last ch, working on opposite side of cast on ch, work 1htr into each of next 6ch, 4htr into last ch, ss to top of the 3ch on beginning of row. DNT. (27htr + 3ch)

Second Round – 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 2htr into each of next 2htr, 1htr into each of next 8htr, 2htr into each of next 6htr, 1htr into each of next 8htr, 2htr into each of last 3htr, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. DNT. (39htr + 2ch)

Third Round – 2ch, 1htr into each htr to end, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row. DNT.

Fourth Round – Working into back loop of stitch only, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each htr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn (40dc)

Fifth Round – Working through both loops make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt Fifth Round once. Fasten off.

Instep – With WS facing and counting from where you fastened off, miss 10dc, rejoin colour 1 with a ss to next dc, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next 19dc. Turn leaving 10dc un-worked. (20dc)

Decrease Row 1 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (see abbrev) 9 times, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (11dc)

Decrease Row 2 – 1ch, 1dc in base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2dc, (5 times). Turn. (6dc)

Next Row – Make 1ch, insert hook and pull up loop in each dc, yrh and pull through all 7 loops on hook to close, work 1ch. Fasten off.

Top – With WS facing rejoin colour 1 to back seam, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each of next 9dc, work 9dc evenly across top of instep, work 1dc into each of next 10dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (29dc)

Rows 2 to 6 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn.

Row 7 – Join in colour 2 make 3ch, (1tr, 2ch, 1dc) into base of 3ch, * miss 2dc, (2tr, 2ch, 1dc) into next dc, rpt from * to * to last 2dc, miss last 2dc, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (10 groups)

Rpt Pattern Row from sleeves three more times. Fasten off.

With top of bootie towards you, join colour 1 with a ss to back seam on the sole, work one row of slip stitch into loose loops around the sole of the bootie, (you can use a larger hook size to here ss if you want), then ss to first ss on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.

Mitts x 2 – With colour 1 make 22ch loosely, ss to first ch to form a ring.

Eyelet Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next ch, * make 2ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into each of next 2ch * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, make 2ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into last ch, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (7, 2ch spaces)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (22dc)

Finishing – With WS side facing gather open seam at top of the mitt and secure.

Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, turn through to RS, thread chain tie through the eyelet row around the cuff and tie in a bow to the front of the mitts.
