For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

55 grams of King Cole Baby 4ply in colour 1
50 grams of King Cole Baby 4ply in colour 2

3.50mm Clover crochet Hook, 3 small buttons
6mm wide satin ribbon.

For a smaller baby you can use a smaller hook size OR for a bigger baby use a larger hook and a DK (#3) yarn

TENSION – 1.5 groups & 4 rows measures approx 2 Inches

Coat – Worked in one piece, starting with yoke.

With colour 1 make 49ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end Turn. (46tr + 3ch)

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1 row of 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end, working 3dc into the corners. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.

Back Frill – Working in loose loops on crown, join color to opening, ch1, work 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 2sc, * 2sc in next sc, 1sc in each of next sc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (64sc)

Starting with ch1, work (2sc, ch2, 2sc) in base of ch1, * skip 2sc, (2sc, ch2, 2sc) in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, skip 2sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off.

With WS facing and color 1, start with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1 and work 2 rows of sc evenly along neck edge. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off loose ends of yarn, thread ribbon around neck edge.

Boots – With color 2 ch21 loosely, sl st to first ch to form a ring, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each ch to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (21sc)

Next Row – ch3, 1dc in each sc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (20dc + ch3)

Starting with ch3, work 3 rows of 1dc in each dc to end, slip stitching to top of ch3 and turning on the end of each row. Fasten off.

Skip 7dc, Join yarn to next dc, ch3, work 1dc in next 6dc, turn leaving 7dc un-worked.
