Orchid Baby Crochet Blanket

Orchid baby crochet blanket, crocheted in a simple stems and group stitch, this pattern is lovely to make and will be a lovely gift for a friend or family member.

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, you will need approximately:-

300 grams of Stylecraft Special DK yarn in colour 1
100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK yarn in colour 2
100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK yarn in colour 3

5.00mm crochet hook

TENSION – 4tr and 2 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Made in multiples of 6 + 3.

With colour 1 make 135ch loosely, work 5tr into 6th ch from hook, * miss 2ch, 1tr into next ch, miss 2ch, 5tr into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 3ch, miss 2ch, 1tr into last ch. Turn. (22, 5tr groups)

2nd Row – 3ch, 2tr into the stitch at the base of the 3ch, * miss 2tr, 1tr into centre tr of 5tr group, miss 2tr, 5tr into single tr, * rpt from * to * to last 5tr group and 3tch, miss 2tr, 1tr into centre tr of 5tr group, miss 2tr, 3tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

3rd Row – 3ch, * miss 2tr, 5tr into next single tr, miss 2tr, 1tr into centre tr of 5tr group, * rpt from * to * to last single tr plus 2tr and 3tch, work 5tr into single tr, miss 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

4th Row – 3ch, 2tr into the stitch at the base of the 3ch, * miss 2tr, 1tr into centre tr of 5tr group, miss 2tr, 5tr into single tr, * rpt from * to * to last 5tr group and 3ch to turn, 1tr into centre of 5tr group, 3tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt 3rd & 4th Rows in colour sequence as follows:-

73rd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * make 2ch, 1dc into next single tr, 2ch, 1dc into centre tr of 5tr group, * rpt from * to * to last single tr, 2tr and 3tch, 1dc into single tr, make 2ch, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.

Border – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * 2dc into 2ch space, 1dc into dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 3dc into last dc, working down the first side of blanket work 2dc into each row end, 3dc into corner, working along cast on edge of blanket, rpt from * to * to end, 3dc into corner, working up the second side of blanket, work 2dc into each row end, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc. Turn. Fasten off.

Second Row – Join in colour 2, work 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc around four sides of blanket, working 3dc into each of the three corners, work 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc on the beginning of the row. Turn.  Fasten off.

Third Row – Join in colour 3, make 3ch, 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 3ch, 1tr into each dc around four sides of blanket, working 3tr into each of the three corners, 1tr into last corner, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
