Puffed shells crochet cowl, an easy shell cowl crocheted in a rectangle, create the puff by working into the back loop of a stitch and then edge with sprig stitch, fold and fasten with a brooch or you can add a couple of buttons and fasten through the stitches.

Approx Finished Size:   31 Inches x 7 Inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, you will need approximately:-

140 grams of Caron Simply Soft

An equivalent yarn would be an Aran weight

5.50mm crochet hook

TENSION – 1 pattern rpt & 1.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Made in multiples of 4 + 2.

Make 34ch, (RS) 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, * miss 1ch, 3tr into next ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (8 puffed shells)

2nd Row – 3ch, work 1tr into the BLO of the stitch at the base of the 3ch, * miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, work 3tr into BLO of next dc, * rpt from * to * to last shell and dc, miss tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, 2tr into BLO of dc. Turn.

3rd Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, miss 1tr, work 3tr into BLO of next dc, * miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, work 3tr into BLO of next dc, * rpt from * to * last tr and 3tch, miss tr, work 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt 2nd & 3rd Rows until 77 rows have been worked in all from beginning. Fasten off.

Pointed  Edge – With WS facing join yarn to starting ch edge, work 33dc evenly along to end. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, miss 1dc, * work (2dc, 2ch, 2dc) into next dc, miss 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end, work 1dc into last dc. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn, wrap cowl around your neck for warmth under a coat or wear out over a sweater and fasten with a brooch.
