Sunglasses Case Crochet Pattern – A quick summer project to keep your sunglasses safe from scratches, ideal for using in backpacks, hand luggage or beach tote bag.

This free crochet pattern is made in a half double crochet (htr for UK) sedge stitch textured design.

RS.     Right Side
ch.      Chain
dc.      Double Crochet
htr.     Half Treble Crochet

tr.       Treble Crochet

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

3ch counts as first tr

Finished Size Approx:  7 inch length x 3.5 inch width

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

30 grams of King Cole Melody DK

4.50mm crochet hook

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in multiples of 2 + 1.

Make 17ch, 2dc into 2nd ch from hook 1dc into each of next 14ch, 2dc into last ch, working along opposite side of starting chain edge, work 1dc into each of next 15ch, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn. (33dc)

2nd Round – (RS) Working into back loop only, make 1ch, 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn.

3rd Round – 1ch, (1dc, 1htr) into stitch at base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, (1dc, 1htr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss dc, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn.

4th Round – 1ch, (1dc, 1htr) into stitch at base of 1ch, * miss 1htr, (1dc, 1htr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last htr, miss htr, ss to first dc on beginning of round. Turn.

Rpt 4th Round until 27 rounds have been worked from beginning or work measures approx 6.5 inches. Turn.

28th Round – 3ch, 1tr into each htr and dc to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn.

29th round – Rpt 4th Round, missing and working into tr’s instead of dc and htr. Fasten off.

Chain Tie – Using yarn double thickness make 60ch fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, thread chain tie through alternate tr’s at the top of the case, pull and tie to close.

28th Round – ch3, 1dc in each hdc and sc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of round. Turn.

29th round – Rpt 4th Round, skipping and working in dc’s instead of sc and hdc. Fasten off.

Chain Tie – Using yarn double thickness ch60 fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, thread chain tie through alternate dc’s at the top of the case, pull and tie to close.
