Crochet Coin Purse

Crochet Coin Purse – A simple little crocheted coin purse, made in one piece. Just fold as described in the pictures below and then edge, attach your button and fill with your pennies and dimes.

Base of ch. Work in first stitch.

Finished size approx:  4 x 4.5 Inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
20 grams of Paintbox Simply DK yarn in color 1
Small amount of Paintbox Simply DK yarn in color 2

An equivalent yarn would be a light worsted #3

4.50mm Clover crochet hook, 1 decorative button

GAUGE – 4st and 6 rows measures approx 1 Inch

ch40 loosely, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, * 1hdc in next ch, sl st in next ch * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (39st)

Pattern Row – ch1, sl st in base of ch1, * 1hdc in next hdc, sl st in next sl st, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

Repeat Pattern Row in color sequence as follows:-

Eight more times in color 1
Six more times in color 2
Five more times in color 1

You should have 21 rows worked in all.

Do not fasten off.

Turn work onto the side, working in the row ends across the short side of the purse, work 16sc evenly along to the corner. (see pic 1)

Fasten off.

Fold over the same short end onto purse approx 3.5 inches. (see pic 2)

Edging – With RS facing, join color 1 to the bottom right hand corner of the fold, ch1, 1sc in next 15st, (picking up both sides of work to seal edges) 1sc in each of the next 9st to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each of the next 7 row ends, ch5 (button loop), 1sc in each of the next 7 row ends, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each of the next 9st, work 1sc in each of the remaining 15st. (picking up both sides of work to seal edges) (see pic 3)

Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in any loose ends of yarn, attach button to flap to correspond with loop.
