The border finish is crocheted in single crochet and then a flurry of shells and it is made with three soft pastel colours in a light worsted #3 (double knitting for UK users) yarn, I used a 5.00mm hook, so it’s soft and squidgy.

200 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 1
100 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 2
150 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 3

An equivalent yarn would be a light worsted #3

Made in multiples of 8 + 5.

Using colour 1 make 165ch loosely, work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into next ch, * make 2ch, miss 2ch, 1dc into next ch, make 2ch, miss 2ch, 1tr into each of next 3ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (21, 3tr blocks, 40, 2ch spaces + 20dc)

2nd Row – (RS) make 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * miss 2ch, 1tr into next dc, 3ch, work 3tr around the post of the last tr made, miss 2ch, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to end, working last tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

3rd Row – 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2ch, miss 3tr, 1dc into top of 3ch on post 3tr group, 2ch, 1tr into each of next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to end, working last tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Edging – Join in colour 2 to first dc, make 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 2dc, * 2dc into 2ch space, miss 1dc, 2dc into next 2ch space, 1dc into each of next 3st, * rpt from * to * to end, work 3dc into last dc, work 139dc evenly into row ends down first side of blanket, 3dc into corner, working along starting chain edge, work 1dc into each of next 2ch, * rpt from * to * to end, work 3dc into last ch, work 139dc evenly into row ends up second side of blanket, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Row 3 – 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc along the four sides of blanket, working 3dc into corners, 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc on the beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 3, rpt last row twice. Fasten off.

Join in colour 1, rpt last row once. DNT.

Row 6 – 3ch, 2tr into stitch at base of 3ch, * miss 1dc, ss next dc, miss 1dc, 5tr into next dc, rpt from * to * around four sides of blanket, ending with 2tr into stitch base of 3ch, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn.
