For great results from this free crochet baby pattern it is always best to use the recommended yarn in the pattern materials section.

I have used Stylecraft Special DK in cream and blush colours for each of the samples of the crochet budtime baby cardigan, but check out more colours in this yarn.

Crochet Hook Size

Pattern asks for a 4.00mm crochet hook, change hook sizes higher or lower to make the outfit bigger or smaller, you can also change the thickness of yarn if you wish.

Buttonhole Band – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into next 4dc, make * 2ch, miss 2dc, 1dc into each of next 7dc, * rpt from * to * 3 more times, 2ch, miss 2dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (5 Buttonholes made)

Button Band – Return to opposite front edge, with RS facing and working from neck downwards, rejoin yarn to first dc, make 1ch, work 1dc into stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into dc to end. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, work 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2 – With WS facing, rejoin yarn to space underarm were you divided for the armholes, work 2ch, * 1tr into next tr, bptr around next tr, *  rpt from * to * across the 30tr for sleeve to end, 1tr into space underarm were you divided, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of row to make a round. Continue in pattern as set with one row fptr and one row bptr until you have worked 12 rows in all or measures approx 4.5 inches from underarm. Turn.
