Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
120 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK yarn in colour 1
15 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft yarn in colour 2
5.00mm Clover Soft Touch Crochet Hook

Back – # With colour 1 make 40ch, (RS) ss into 2nd ch from hook, * 1htr into next ch, ss into next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.
2nd Row – 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, * 1htr into next htr, ss into next ss, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. #
Rpt 2nd Row until 52 rows have been worked in all or work measures approx 10 inches from beginning. Fasten off.
Front – Rpt from # to # Work 2nd Row until 16 rows have been worked in all from beginning. Fasten off.
Rpt 2nd Row in colour sequence as follows:-
Twice in colour 2, twice in colour 1, twelve times in colour 2, twice in colour 1, twice in colour 2, sixteen times in colour 1. Turn.
Border – Place the WS’s of the back and front together so that RS of potholder is facing, work through both pieces of potholder for this row, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each ss and htr to end, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into each row end down first side of pot holder, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each chain along starting chain edge, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into each row end up second side of pot holder, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Second Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc around all sides of potholder, working 3dc into the three corners, 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Shell Edge – 1ch, (1dc, 3tr, 1dc) into base of 1ch, * miss 2dc, (1dc, 3tr, 1dc) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to next corner, work (1dc, 20ch, ss to first dc, 1dc) into corner, rpt from * to * around to last dc, miss dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn.
