Dec. Decrease
Pull up loop from each of next 2 dc, yrh, pull thought 3 loops.
BS. Bean Stitch
Insert the hook into next st and pull up a loop, (2 loops on hook ) yrh, insert into same st and pull up a loop, (4 loops on hook) yrh insert in same st and pull up a loop, (6 loops on hook) yrh and pull though all 6 loops, make 1ch.
Base of ch. Work into first stitch.
Size to fit approx: Adult Head
Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn
I have used approximately:-
100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK
TENSION – 4dc & 3 rows measures approx 1 inch

Brim – With colour 1 make 7ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (6dc)
2nd Row – Working into BLO (see abbrev) of stitch make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row until you have 80 rows worked in all.
You can add more rows here if you wish to make the beanie larger.
Fold work in half and ss last row worked and starting chain edge together to make a round.
Body – Turn work so you are working into row ends, (ss seam facing) make 1ch, work 1dc into each row end along side of Brim to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (80dc)
Second Row – (RS) 1ch, BS (see abbrev) into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, BS into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss dc, ss to first BS on beginning of row. Turn. (40BS)
Pattern Row – 1ch, BS into base of 1ch, * miss 1ch, work BS into next BS, rpt from * to * to end, ss to first BS on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Pattern Row until 24 BS rows have been worked in all from Brim.
Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each BS to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (40dc)
Decrease Row – 1ch, * dec 1dc over next 2dc (see abbrev) * rpt from * to * to end, ss first dc on beginning of row. (20dc)
Fasten off leaving a length of yarn. Using a darning needle thread loose yarn between the dc’s, gather top together and secure.
Make a pom-pom, I used Clover pom-pom maker no 65
Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn, attach pom-pom to crown.
