For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
265 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in colour 1
175 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in colour 2
210 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in colour 3
6.50mm Crochet Hook
TENSION – 1.5 Pattern rpt’s & 1.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Made in multiples of 4 + 1
With colour 1 make 125ch loosely, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, * miss 3ch, work shell group (see abbrev) into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 5ch, miss 3ch, 1tr into each of last 2ch. Turn. (29 shell groups)
2nd Row – 3ch, 1tr into next tr, 1dc into space between tr and next shell group, (see pic) work shell group into 1ch space on next shell group, * 1dc into space between next 2 shells, shell group into 1ch space on next shell group, * rpt from * to * to last tr and 3tch, work 1dc into space between shell group and next tr, 1tr into next tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.
3rd Row – 3ch, 1tr into next tr, work shell group into 1ch space of each shell group to last tr and 3tch, work 1tr into next tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.
4th Row – 3ch, 1tr into next tr, 1dc into space between tr and next shell group, work shell group into 1ch space on next shell group, * 1dc into space between next 2 shells, shell group into 1ch space on next shell group, * rpt from * to * to last tr and 3tch, work 1dc into space between shell and tr, 1tr into next tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.
Rpt 3rd & 4th Rows once more. Fasten off.
Continue repeating 3rd & 4th Rows in colour sequence as follows:-
# Once in colour 2, three times in colour 3, once in colour 2, three times in colour 1. #
Rpt from # to # three more times or until 70 rows have been worked in all from beginning. Turn.
71st Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next tr, * make 3ch loosely, 1dc into 1ch space on next shell group, * rpt from * to * last tr and 3tch, make 3ch, 1dc into next tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.
Fasten off. Join in colour 2
Border – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into next dc, 3tr into 3ch space, * 1tr into next st, 3tr into 3ch space, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, 1tr into next dc, 3tr into next dc, work 2tr into each row end down first side of blanket, 3tr into corner, rpt from * to * along starting chain edge to last 2tr, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into next tr, work 2tr into each row end up second side of blanket, 1tr into corner, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each tr around blanket to end, working 3dc into each corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Finishing – Weave and trim all loose ends of yarn.
