Crochet Summer Baby Blanket – The design is an addition to my Summer collection, this beautiful baby blanket is made on a medium sized hook, so it is soft and cuddly for your little one.

Shell.   (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in same space or stitch.

Base of ch. Work in first stitch.

ch3 counts as first dc.
ch4 counts as first trc.

Approx finished Size:   38 x 43 Inches

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

475 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK in color 1
110 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK in color 2

An equivalent yarn would be a light worsted #3

5.00mm Clover Crochet Hook

GAUGE – 4dc & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch

Made in multiples of 7 + 3

ch143 loosely, (RS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end.

2nd Row – ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * ch2, skip 2dc, 1dc in each of next 5dc,* rpt from * to * to last 4dc and 3tch, ch2, skip 2dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (19, 5dc blocks + 2 half blocks at each end)

3rd Row – ch3, skip first 2dc, * 6dc in ch2 space, skip 2dc, fptrc (see abbrev) around next dc, skip next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last ch2 space, 2dc and 3tch, skip 2dc, 6dc in ch2 space, skip 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (20, 6dc groups)

4th Row – ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * ch2, skip 2dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, work bptrc (see abbrev) around next trc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last 4dc and 3tch, ch2, skip 2dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

5th Row – ch3, skip first 2dc, * 6dc in ch2 space, skip 2dc, 1fptrc around next trc, skip next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last ch2 space, 2dc and 3tch, 6dc in ch2 space, skip 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt 4th & 5th Rows until 36 complete patterns have been worked, (you should have 73 rows worked) or your work measures approx 36.5 inches from beginning. Turn.

Rpt 4th Row once.

75th Row – ch3, 1dc in each dc and 2dc in each ch2 space to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Border – ch1, 1sc in the base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, 3sc in corner, work 2sc evenly in each row end down first side of blanket, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch along starting chain edge, 3sc in corner, 2sc evenly in each row end up second side of blanket, 1sc in corner, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end, working 3sc in the three corners, 1sc in last corner, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Fasten off. Join in color 2.

Third Row – ch3, * skip 2sc, 1 shell in next sc, (see abbrev) skip 2sc, 1dc in next sc, * rpt from * to * around the blanket, working (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in each of the corners, sl st to top of ch3 on the beginning of row. Turn.

Note – You may need to skip 1sc instead of 2 as you approach the corners to keep the pattern correct.

Fourth Row – ch4, (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in the corner, fptrc around next dc, * 1 shell in next shell, fptrc around next dc, * rpt from * to * around blanket, working (3dc, ch2, 3dc) in each of the remaining corners, sl st to top of ch4 on beginning of row. Turn.

Fifth Row – ch4, * 1 shell in next shell, 1bptr around next trc, * rpt from * to * around blanket, working (4dc, ch3, 4dc) in each of the corners, sl st to top of ch4 on the beginning of row. Turn.

Sixth Row – ch5, (4dc, ch3, 4dc, ch1) in the corner, fptrc around next trc, * 1 shell in next shell, fptrc around next trc, * rpt from * to * around blanket, working (ch1, 4dc, ch3, 4dc, ch1) in each of the remaining corners, sl st to 4th of ch5 on beginning of row. Turn.

Finishing – Weave in and tie off any loose ends of yarn, attach flower to blanket.
