Using post stitches and groups, this 6-12 month age crochet baby summer bonnet crochets up in no time. Made in a light worsted yarn it is easy to make.

Approx size to fit:  6-12 Month Baby

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

30 grams of Paintbox Simply DK Yarn in Color 1
30 grams of King Cole DK Yarn in Color 2

An equivalent yarn would be a light worsted #3

4.00mm Clover crochet hook

GAUGE – 5dc and 2 rows of dc’s measures approx 1 Inch

Crochet Baby Summer Bonnet

With color 1, ch6, sl st to first ch to form a ring, work ch3, 12dc in ring, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (12dc + ch3)

2nd Row – (Inc row) ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (24dc + ch3)

3rd Row – (Inc row) ch3, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (36dc + ch3)

4th Row – (Inc row) ch3, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (48dc + ch3)

5th Row – (Inc row) ch3, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc,* rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (60dc + ch3)

6th Row – (Inc row) ch3, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 4dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (72dc + ch3)

Fasten off. Join in color 2.

7th Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, sl st to first sc. Turn. (73sc)

8th Row – ch3, (WS) 1dc in each of next 2sc, * ch2, skip 1sc, 1dc in each of next 5sc,* rpt from * to * to last 10sc, work ch2, skip 1sc, 1dc in each of next 3sc, turn leaving 6sc un-worked. (10, 5dc blocks + 2 halves)

9th Row – ch3, skip first 2dc, * 6dc in ch2 space, skip 2dc, fptrc (see abbrev) around next dc, skip next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last ch2 space, 2dc and 3tch, skip 2dc, 6dc in ch2 space, skip 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (11, 6dc groups)

10th Row – ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * ch2, skip 2dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, bptrc around next trc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last 4dc and 3tch, ch2, skip 2dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (10, blocks + 2 halves)

11th Row – ch3, skip first 2dc, * 6dc in ch2 space, skip 2dc, 1fptrc around next trc, skip next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last ch2 space, 2dc and 3tch, 6dc in ch2 space, skip 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (11, 6dc groups)

Fasten off. Join in color 1.

Rpt 10th & 11th Rows twice.

Fasten off. Join in color 2.

Rpt 10th & 11th Rows once.

Fasten off.

You should have 5 complete patterns worked in all from crown.

Neck Edging – With RS of work facing, working in the row ends and the un-worked 6sc on the 7th Row, start with ch3 and work one row of dc stitch evenly along neck edge to end.

Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, thread ribbon through alternate dc’s along neck edge and tie in a bow.
