Crochet Circular Mandala UK

Pattern Number P224

Abbreviations UK
RS.      Right Side

ch.      Chain
dc.      Double Crochet
htr.    Half Treble Crochet
tr.       Treble Crochet
dtr.    Double Treble Crochet
rpt.    Repeat
ss.      Slip Stitch
yrh.   Yarn Round Hook

vst.   (1tr, 1ch, 1tr) into same stitch or space.

Shell. (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) into same stitch or space. 

Long dc.
Insert your hook into the dc on the 10th Row, pull up long loop, yo and pull through 2 loops.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

2ch counts as first htr
3ch counts as first tr
4ch counts as first tr and 1ch

Finished size approx:  13.5 Inch Diameter

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

20 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in color 1
30 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in color 2
20 grams of King Cole Comfort Aran in color 3

5.00mm Clover crochet hook

TENSION – 5tr and 2.5 rows measures approx 1 Inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Worked in rounds without turning until Round 13.

With colour 1 make magic circle, (RS) work 3ch, 14tr into circle, pull loose thread to close circle, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (14tr + 3ch)

2nd Round – 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning or round. (29tr + 3ch)

Fasten off. Join in colour 2.

3rd Round – 4ch, * 1tr into next tr, 1ch, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of round. (29tr, 30, 1ch spaces + 3ch)

4th Round – ss to first 1ch space, make 3ch, 1tr into same 1ch space, work 2tr into each 1ch space to end, ss to top of 3ch on the beginning of round. (59tr + 3ch)

Fasten off. Join in colour 3.

5th Round – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc. (60dc)

Fasten off. Join in colour 1.

6th Round – 4ch, 1tr into base of 4ch, * miss 1dc, (1tr, 1ch, 1tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss last dc, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of round. (30vst)

7th Round – ss to first 1ch space, 4ch, 1tr into same space, (1tr, 1ch, 1tr) into each 1ch space to end, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of round.

Fasten off. Join in colour 2.

8th Round – Working into first 1ch space make 3ch, (1tr, 1ch, 2tr) into same space, (2tr, 1ch, 2tr) into each 1ch space to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. (30 shells)

9th Round – ss to first 1ch space then work as Round 8.

Fasten off.

10th Round – Join colour 3 to first 1ch space, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * make 4ch, 1dc into next 1ch space, * rpt from * to * to end, make 4ch, ss to first dc on the beginning of round. (30, 4ch spaces)

11th Round – Make 1ch, work 6dc into each 4ch space to end, ss to first dc on beginning of round. (180dc)

Fasten off. Join in colour 1.

12th Round – 3ch, 1tr into each dc to end, ss to top of 3ch on the beginning of the round. (179tr + 3ch)

Fasten off. Join in colour 2.

13th Round – 2ch, (1tr into next tr, 1dtr into each of next 2tr, 1tr into next tr, 1htr into next tr), * (1htr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, 1dtr into each of next 2tr, 1tr into next tr, 1htr into next tr) * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 2ch on beginning of round. Turn.

Fasten off. Join in colour 3 to first htr.

14th Round – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of the next 5st, * 1 long dc into the dc on the 10th Round, (see abbrev) 1dc into each of next 6st, * rpt from * to * to end, 1 long dc into the next dc on 10th Round, ss to first dc.

Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
