15 grams of Stylecraft Special DK
4.00mm Clover Crochet Hook, decorative button
TENSION – 1 pattern rpt & 2.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Make 21ch loosely, work 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, miss 1ch, (1tr, 1ch, 1tr, 1ch, 1tr) into next ch, miss 2ch, 1dc into next ch, * miss 2ch, (1tr, 1ch, 1tr, 1ch, 1tr) into next ch, miss 2ch, 1dc into next ch * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into last ch. Turn. (3 groups)
Pattern Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * (1tr, 1ch, 1tr, 1ch, 1tr) into next dc, 1dc into centre tr of group * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into last dc. Turn.
Back & Front – Rpt Pattern Row until you have worked 18 rows, place colour marker each end. Turn.
Flap – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1htr into dc, * 1dc into each of next (tr, 1ch space, tr, 1ch space, tr), 1htr into dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (20dc)
Decrease Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, dec 1dc over next 2st, (twice) 1dc into each of next 10st, dec 1dc over next 2st, (twice) 1dc into htr. Turn. (16dc)
Starting with 1ch 1dc into base of 1ch and turning at the end of each row, work 6 more rows of 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off. (20dc)
Join yarn to the starting chain edge and work 1dc into each ch to end. Fasten off. (20dc)
Fold work from dc edge to the marker (see pics 1 & 2)
Edging – With RS facing and back of purse towards you, join yarn to the bottom right hand corner of the fold, 1ch, 1dc into next 15 row ends (picking up both sides of work to seal edges) 1dc into each of the next 7 row ends on flap, 3dc into corner, 1dc in each of the next 7dc, make 5ch (button loop), 1dc into each of the next 7dc, 3dc into corner, 1dc in each of the next 7 row ends on flap, work 1dc into each of the remaining 15 row ends (picking up both sides of work to seal edges) (see pic 3)
Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn.
