30 grams of Paintbox Simply DK Yarn in Colour 1

30 grams of King Cole DK Yarn in Colour 2

4.00mm Clover crochet hook

TENSION – 5tr and 2 rows of tr’s measures approx 1 Inch

Crochet Baby Summer Bonnet

With colour 1, make 6ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, work 3ch, 12tr into ring, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (12tr + 3ch)

2nd Row – (Inc row) 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (24tr + 3ch)

3rd Row – (Inc row) 3ch, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr in next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (36tr + 3ch)

4th Row – (Inc row) 3ch, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (48tr + 3ch)

5th Row – (Inc row) 3ch, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 3tr,* rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (60tr + 3ch)

6th Row – (Inc row) 3ch, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 4tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (72tr + 3ch)

Fasten off. Join in colour 2.

7th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc. Turn. (73dc)

8th Row – 3ch, (WS) 1tr into each of next 2dc, * 2ch, miss 1dc, 1tr into each of next 5dc,* rpt from * to * to last 10dc, work 2ch, miss 1dc, 1tr into each of next 3dc, turn leaving 6dc un-worked. (10, 5tr blocks + 2 halves)

9th Row – 3ch, miss first 2tr, * 6tr into 2ch space, miss 2tr, fpdtr (see abbrev) around next tr, miss next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch space, 2tr and 3tch, work 6tr into 2ch space, miss 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (11, 6tr groups)

10th Row – 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2ch, miss 2tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, work bpdtr around next dtr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 4tr and 3tch, 2ch, miss 2tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (10, blocks + 2 halves)

11th Row – 3ch, miss first 2tr, * 6tr into 2ch space, miss 2tr, 1fpdtr around next dtr, miss next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch space, 2tr and 3tch, 6tr into 2ch space, miss 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (11, 6tr groups)

Fasten off. Join in colour 1.

Rpt 10th & 11th Rows twice.

Rpt 10th & 11th Rows once.

Fasten off.

Neck Edging – With RS of work facing, working into row ends and the un-worked 6dc on the 7th Row, start with 3ch and work one row of tr stitch evenly along neck edge to end.

Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, thread ribbon through alternate tr’s along neck edge and tie in a bow.
