Button/Button Bands – With 3.50mm hook and RS facing, join colour 2 with a ss to lower edge of right front, make 1ch, working into row ends, work 49dc evenly up front edge to neck, 3dc into corner, work 1dc into each ch around neck, 3dc into corner, work 49dc evenly into row ends to end. Turn. (162dc)

Working into BLO and starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt last row once.

Buttonhole Row (Written for a boy, swap sides for a girl) – Working in BLO make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 3dc * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 8dc, * rpt from * to * 4 more times, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (6 Buttonholes made)

Rpt last row until 96 rows have been worked in all.

Fold rib in half lengthways, ss starting chain edge and last row worked together to make a round, turn your work so that ss seam is on the WS.

Second Leg – With RS facing, return to where you divided for legs, join colour 1 with a ss to first tr, make 4ch, * miss 1dc, working into BLO work 1tr into each of next 2dc, make 1ch, * rpt from * to * 14 more times, miss 1dc, 1tr into next dc, ss to 3rd of 4ch on beginning of row. Chain Tie – Make 130ch. Fasten off.

Make 2 small pom-poms (I used Clover pom-pom maker number 20)

Finishing – Close small gap on crotch, weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn, thread ch tie through waist and attach a pom-pom to each end, tie in a bow.

Beanie Hat – Worked on a 4.50mm hook starting from the crown and working into BLO.

With colour 1, make 6ch, join with a ss to form a ring, (RS) 1ch, work 14dc into ring, join to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (14dc)

Row 2 – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Button/Button Bands – With 3.50mm hook and RS facing, join color 2 with a sl st to lower edge of right front, ch1, working in row ends, work 49sc evenly up front edge to neck, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in each ch around neck, 3sc in corner, work 49sc evenly in row ends to end. Turn. (162sc)

Working in BLO and starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Rpt last row once.

Buttonhole Row (Written for a boy, swap sides for a girl) – Working in BLO ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 3sc * ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in next 8sc, * rpt from * to * 4 more times, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in last sc. Turn. (6 Buttonholes made)

Continue working in BLO, starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1 and turning at the end of each row, work 3 rows of 1sc in each sc to end. Fasten off.

Return to right hand side, join color 2 to neck edge with a sl st, working downwards in row ends and BLO, work 6 more rows of sc making 7 rows in all. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gaps under arms, weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes.

Pants – Worked on a 4.50mm hook starting from the waist.

Ribbing – With 4.50mm hook and color 1 ch5, 1sc in 2nd ch, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (4sc)

Next Row – Working in BLO, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. (5sc)

Rpt last row until 96 rows have been worked in all.

Fold rib in half lengthways, sl st starting chain edge and last row worked together to make a round, turn your work so that sl st seam is on the WS.

Body – (RS) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each row end to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn. (96sc)

Next Row – Join in color 2, ch1, work 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Pattern Row 1 – ch4, * skip 1sc, working in BLO work 1dc in each of next 2sc, ch1, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, skip 1sc, 1dc in last sc, sl st to 3rd of ch4 on beginning of row. Turn. (63dc, 32, ch1 spaces + ch3)

Pattern Row 2 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc and ch1 space to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (96sc)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until there are 10 complete patterns worked or your work measures approx 7 inches in all.

Divide for Legs

First Leg – ch4, * skip 1sc, working in BLO work 1dc in each of next 2sc, ch1, * rpt from * to * 14 more times, skip 1sc, 1dc in next sc, skip 48sc, sl st to 3rd of ch4 on beginning of row. Turn. (31dc, 16, ch1 spaces + ch3)

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc and ch1 space to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (48sc)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until there are 4 complete patterns in all or your work measures approx 2.5 inches.

Rpt ribbing until 48 rows have been worked in all.

Fold rib in half lengthways, sl st starting chain edge and last row worked together to make a round.

Joining Ribbing to Leg – With RS of pants and WS of ribbing facing, working along row ends of ribbing and in each BLO of stitch along bottom of leg, sl st both pieces together to join. Fasten off.

Second Leg – With RS facing, return to where you divided for legs, join color 1 with a sl st to first dc, ch4, * skip 1sc, working in BLO work 1dc in each of next 2sc, ch1, * rpt from * to * 14 more times, skip 1sc, 1dc in next sc, sl st to 3rd of ch4 on beginning of row. Turn. (31dc, 16, ch1 spaces + ch3)

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc and ch1 space to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (48sc)

Work remainder of second leg the same as the first leg.

Chain Tie – ch130. Fasten off.

Make 2 small pom-poms (I used Clover pom-pom maker number 20)

Finishing – Close small gap on crotch, weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn, thread ch tie through waist and attach a pom-pom to each end, tie in a bow.

Beanie Hat – Worked on a 4.50mm hook starting from the crown and working in BLO.

With color 1, ch6, join with a sl st to form a ring, (RS) ch1, work 14sc in ring, join to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (14sc)

Row 2 – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Row 3 – (Inc) ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 2sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (28sc)

Row 4 – Rpt Row 2.

Row 5 – (Inc) ch1, 2sc in base of ch3, 1sc in next sc, * 2sc in next sc, 1sc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (42sc)

Row 6 – Rpt Row 2.

Rpt Row 2 until you have worked 36sc rows worked in all from crown or your work measures approx 6 Inches from beginning. Fasten off.

Brim – Working in FLO and using color 2, rpt Row 2 once. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row 1 from pants until last 3sc, skip 1sc, dec 1dc (see abbrev) over last 2sc. (45dc, 23, ch1 spaces + ch3)

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 from pants twice. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, turn brim onto front of hat.
