Beautiful little outfit for a new arrival, it would be ideal for a baby shower gift.

The pattern has been crocheted using light worsted (DK for UK) on a 4.00mm hook, but you can change hook sizes and use thicker yarn to make the outfit bigger if you wish.

140 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK in colour 1
100 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK in colour 2

4.00mm crochet hook, 10 small buttons
To make the outfit bigger use can use larger hook sizes

TENSION – 4tr & 2 rows measures approx 1 inch

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

This pattern is worked through the Back Loops Only except for the rib rows.

Cardigan – Worked in one piece starting with yoke.

With colour 2 make 58ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into the next 6ch’s (Front), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 9ch’s (Shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 18ch’s (Back), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 9ch’s. (Shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch’s (Front). Turn. (63tr + 3ch)

2nd Row – (Inc Row) Make 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to next 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr of 3tr group, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr of 3tr group, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (71tr + 3ch)

3rd to 8th Row – rpt 2nd Row. Turn. (119tr + 3ch)

9th Row – (Divide for Armholes) – Make 3ch, 1tr into next 15tr, * work 2tr into next tr, make 1ch, miss next 25tr, 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 34tr, work 2tr into next tr, make 1ch, miss next 25tr, 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch, Turn. (73tr, 2, 1ch spaces + 3ch)

10th Row – 3ch, 1tr into each tr to first 1ch space, 3tr into 1ch space, 1tr into each tr to second 1ch space, 3tr into 1ch space, 1tr into each tr to end. Turn. (79tr + 3ch)

11th Row – 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Rpt 11th Row until 20 rows have been worked from beginning. Turn.

Rib Row – 3ch, working through both loops of stitch, work * fptr around next tr, bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (see abbrev for fp & bp tr)

Rpt Rib Row once. Fasten off.

Sleeves x 2 – With RS facing, join yarn to side of tr underarm, make 2ch, work 1tr into same space, 1tr into each of next 25tr, 1tr into side of tr on opposite side of sleeve, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn. (27tr)

Next Row – 2ch, 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 2ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt last row until 9 rows have been worked from division. Turn.

Cuff – ss and turning at the end of each row, work Rib Row twice.

Button/Buttonhole Bands
Written for a girl, swap buttonhole row to opposite side for a boy.

With RS facing and starting at lower edge of right hand front, work 43dc evenly into row ends up first front edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch around neck edge, 3dc into corner, work 43dc evenly into row ends down second front edge to end. Turn.

Button Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to neck edge. Turn.

Turning at the end of each row and starting with 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work 2 rows of 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.

Buttonhole Band – Return to first front edge, starting from corner and working neck downwards, with WS facing work 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, * make 2ch, miss 2dc, 1dc into next 6dc, * rpt from * to * four times, make 2ch, miss 2dc, 1dc into remaining dc. Turn. (6 Buttonholes)

Next row – 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work 1dc into each dc and 2dc into each 2ch space to end. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work one row of 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gap under arms, weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, sew on buttons to correspond with the buttonholes.

Dungarees – With colour 1 make 90ch, ss to first ch to form a round, work 2ch, (RS) 1tr into base of 2ch, 1tr in each ch to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn. (90tr)

Second Row – 2ch, 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 2ch, work 1tr into each tr to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt Second Row until 13 rows have been worked or work measures approx 6 Inches. Turn.

Divide for legs – 2ch, 1tr into into the stitch at the base of the 2ch, work 1tr into next 44tr, miss 45tr, ss to first tr on beginning of row. (You should have 45tr un-worked which we will come back to for second leg)

Rpt Second Row until 12 rows have been worked from division. Turn.

Rib Row – 2ch, working through both loops, work 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 2ch, * fptr around next tr, bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt Rib Row once. Fasten off.

Leg 2 – Return to un-worked 45tr at division, join in yarn with a ss to next stitch, work the second leg the same as the first.

Waist Band – With WS of work facing join yarn with a ss to cast on edge at waist, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 89 more dc evenly along edge. Turn. (90dc)

Starting each row with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 2 more rows of 1dc into each dc, slip stitching and turning at the end of each row. Fasten off.

Bib Front – With RS of work facing and counting from back seam, miss 27dc, join yarn with a ss to next dc, 2ch, 1tr into base of 2ch, work 1tr into each of next 34dc. Turn. (35tr)

Rpt Second Row until 9 rows have been worked or work measures approx 4 Inches. Turn.

Shape Neck – 2ch, 1tr into base of 2ch, 1tr into each of next 10tr, turn leaving 24tr un-worked.

Rpt Second Row twice. Fasten off.

With WS facing return to the un-worked 24tr on neck edge, miss 13tr, join yarn with a ss to next tr, continue on these 11tr and complete the same as the first side. Fasten off.

Bib Border – With RS facing and starting at lower edge by waist band, work 23dc evenly up first side of bib, 3dc into corner, 9dc across shoulder, 3dc into corner, 23dc around neck edge, 3dc into corner, 9dc across second shoulder, 3dc into corner and 23dc down second side of bib. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 more row of 1dc into each dc around all sides on bib front to end, working 3dc into corners. Fasten off.

Bib Back – With RS facing, counting from base of front of bib, miss 10dc, join yarn to next dc, 2ch, work 1tr into base of 2ch, 1tr into next 16dc, (takes you to the back seam), 1tr into seam, work 1tr into each of next 17dc, turn leaving 10dc un-worked. (35tr)

Rpt Second Row until 12 rows have been worked in all. Turn.

Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of ch, work 1dc into next 10tr, turn leaving 24tr un-worked.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 3 more rows of 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. (11dc)

Buttonhole Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into next dc, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 5dc, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into last 2dc. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 more row of 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end. Fasten off.

Return to un-worked 24tr, miss 13tr, join yarn with a ss to next tr, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 10tr, continue and complete the same as the first side. Fasten off.

With RS facing starting at lower edge by waist band, work 29dc evenly up first side of bib back, 3dc into corner, 9dc across shoulder, 3dc into corner, 23dc around neck edge, 3dc into corner, 9dc across second shoulder, 3dc into corner and 29dc down second side of bib back. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 more row of 1dc into each dc around all sides on bib front to end, working 3dc into corners. Fasten off.

Chain Tie – Make 130ch. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gap on crotch, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off, sew 2 buttons on each shoulder to correspond with buttonholes.

Turn through to RS, thread chain tie alternately through centre row of dc on waist and tie with a bow.
