For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
40 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK in colour 1
60 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK yarn in colour 2
4.00mm Clover Soft Touch Crochet Hook
3 small buttons
TENSION – 4tr & 2.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Worked in one piece starting with the yoke.
Using main colour yarn, make 55ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (52tr + 3ch)
2nd Row – (Inc) 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 4tr, * rpt from * to * to end, working last tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (62tr + 3ch)
3rd Row – 3ch, 1tr in each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.
4th Row – (Inc) 3ch, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to end, working last tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (77tr + 3ch)
5th Row – as 3rd Row.
6th Row – (Inc) 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (102tr + 3ch)
7th Row – as 3rd Row.
8th Row – (Inc) as 6th Row, until 1tr and 3ch remain, 2tr into tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. (136tr + 3ch) Fasten off.
Commence with Skirt – Join in colour 2, make 3ch, miss 1tr, * 1 shell (see abbrev) into next tr, miss 3tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr and 3ch, miss tr, work 1tr into top of 3ch. (34 shell groups). Turn.
10th Row – 3ch, work 1 shell group into each 1ch space to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.
Rpt 10th Row twice. Turn.
13th Row – (Divide for armholes) 3ch, 1 shell into 1ch space of next 5 shells, make 1ch, miss 7 shells, work 1 shell into 1ch space of next 10 shells, make 1ch, miss 7 shells, work 1 shell into 1ch space of next 5 shells, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (20 shell groups)
14th Row – 3ch, work 1 shell into 1ch space of next 5 shells, 1 shell into 1ch space underarm, 1 shell into 1ch space of next 10 shells, 1 shell into 1ch space underarm, 1 shell into 1ch space of next 5 shells, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (22 shell groups)
Rpt 10th Row until thirteen shell group rows have been worked in all from the yoke. Fasten off.
Sleeves x 2 – Join colour 2 into same shell under arm where you divided for armholes, work 3ch, 1tr into same space, work 1 shell group into each 1ch space of next 7 shells, 2tr into same shell under arm where you divided for armholes, make 1ch, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (8, 1ch spaces)
Next Row – 3ch, (1tr, 1ch, 2tr) into base of 3ch, 1 shell into each 1ch space on shell to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (8 shell groups)
Pattern Row – ss to first 1ch space, work (3ch, 1tr, 1ch, 2tr) into same 1ch space, 1 shell into each 1ch space of shell to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Pattern Row until 10 shell group rows have been worked from yoke. Turn. Fasten off.
Cuff – Join in colour 1, make 1ch, missing all 1ch spaces work 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (32dc)
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 2 more rows of dc, ss to first dc on beginning of each row. Fasten off.
Button/Buttonhole Bands – With colour 1, RS facing and starting at lower edge on right hand side of coat, work 42dc evenly into row ends up first front edge to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each stitch around neck to next corner, 3dc into corner, work 42dc into row ends down second front edge to end. Turn.
Button Band – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc along front edge to corner. Turn.
Rpt last row once. Fasten off.
Buttonhole Band – Return to neck edge on first front edge, working from neck downwards work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 6dc, * rpt from * to * once, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of the remaining dc. Turn. (3 buttonholes made)
Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end. Fasten off.
Finishing – Close small gaps under arms, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
