Button/Buttonhole Bands
Written for a girl, swap buttonhole row to opposite side for a boy.
With WS facing and starting at neck edge on right hand front, work 42dc evenly into row ends down first front edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each tr along bottom of cardigan, 3dc into corner, work 42dc evenly into row ends up second front edge to neck. Turn.
Buttonhole Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc down front edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc along bottom of cardigan, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each of next 26dc, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 7dc, * rpt from * to * once more, 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. (3 Buttonholes)
Next Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each 2ch space and dc down front edge to corner. Fasten off.
With WS facing join yarn to bottom edge on left hand side, make 1ch, work 1dc into stitch at base of 1ch, working from lower edge up, work 1dc into each dc along, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each st around neck edge, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.
Finishing – Close small gaps under arms, weave in and trim off loose ends of yarn, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
Pants – Make 90ch, ss to first ch to make a round (RS) work 3ch, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. (89tr + 3ch)
Second Row – 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Second Row until 10 rows have been worked in all. Turn. (add extra rows if you wish)
Divide for legs – 3ch, 1tr into next 44tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row, turn leaving 45tr un-worked.
Continue on these 44tr and 3tch, slip stitching at the end of each row, until 11 rows have been worked from division. (add extra rows if you wish) Turn.
Leg Cuff – Make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Next Row – Work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt last row once. Fasten off.
Second Leg – Return to remaining 45tr at division, join yarn to next tr and continue in the same way as first leg.
With WS of work facing and starting with 1ch work 90dc evenly along cast on edge at waist, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Chain Tie – Make 130ch. Fasten off.

Beanie Hat – Make magic circle, work 3ch, (RS) 15tr into ring, pull loose loop to close circle, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn.
2nd Round – (Inc Round) 3ch, 1tr into stitch at base of 3ch, 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn. (31tr + 3ch)
3rd Round – (Inc Round) 3ch, 1tr into stitch at base of 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn. (47tr + 3ch)
4th Round – (Inc Round) 3ch, 1tr into stitch at base of 3ch, 1tr into each of the next 2tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of next 2tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn. (64tr + 3ch)
5th Round – (Inc Round) 3ch, 1tr into each of next 6tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into next 7tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, 1tr into tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn (70tr + 3ch)
6th Round – 3ch, 1tr in each tr to end, ss into top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn.
Rpt 6th Round until 13tr rounds have been worked in all from beginning. Turn.
Brim – Working through back loop of stitch only, work 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of round. Turn.
Working through both loops from now on, rpt 6th Round until 3 rounds have been worked in all for brim. Fasten off.
Finishing – Fold brim onto front of hat, weave in and trim off loose ends of yarn. Decorate with a pom-pom if you wish.
